Description

Description

Your firm signed up for the 2030 Challenge...Now what? In this presentation, BIM and Energy Specialists from Dekker/Perich/Sabatini will outline how they have implemented the AIA 2030 Challenge. In this 90-minute session we will discuss key considerations from becoming a 2030 signatory through the software and best practices implemented during reporting. We will then dive into how to investigate model analysis and provide valuable feedback to clients and design teams, including how to lower the predicted EUI while targeting the reduction goals set by the 2030 Challenge. We'll also cover the deliverables provided to project teams to ensure confidence in proposed energy saving tactics. This presentation will provide attendees the tools needed to not only implement 2030 at their firms, but to also make a difference by reducing their carbon footprint!

I am a BIM tech at D/P/S and since I have started here, I have found my self fascinated with energy modeling. It all began with my BPA certification and I was hooked. Since then I have made it my personal mission to promote sustainable solutions through the office and our city. We have taken this challenge head on and signed up with the 2030 initiative and became 1/170 reporting firms in 2016. We now run Energy analysis on every new construction project that goes through our doors!!! I believe with this effort we can dramatically reduce our carbon footprint, thus saving the world one model at a time.. Be an energy hero!!

In February of 2017, Aaron accepted the position of Intern Architect / Energy Specialist, to join Dekker/Perich/Sabatini. During his time at the University of New Mexico, Aaron has held seven graduate teaching assistant positions at the UNM School of Architecture and Planning. In August of 2016, the Office of Graduate Studies awarded Aaron with the Graduate Studies Excellence Assistantship. In the summer of 2016, Aaron was the recipient of the Schoeman Travel Endowment where he conducted independent research on Nordic healthcare architecture in Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark; studying the correlation between energy efficiency and sustainable design, with an improvement in the indoor healing environment - ultimately shortening the patient’s recovery and improving the quality of work from the doctors and staff. Recently, Aaron has delved into research on environmental awareness, energy, economics & social cohesion within urban neighborhoods for his Masters Project.Credentials: WELL AP, LEED Green Associate
