The class will start with an introduction to a historical project created in Revit software using scan-to-Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows. The completed model will be showcased and specific features of the model will be highlighted. We will then introduce you to various Autodesk software used to accomplish the model, VIZ. Revit software, ReCap software, ReMake software, and Navisworks software. Once you have a basic understanding of the proposed workflow, we will then give a hands-on instructional demonstration. The workflows you will learn include visualizing a point cloud in ReCap and Navisworks; importing the point cloud in Revit, and making sure it's at the right location; creating basic historical objects using the Revit family editor; modeling complex architectural features in Revit; and scanning to ReMake and Revit. Lastly, you will discover how the model can be exported to Revit Live and visualized in a 1:1 scale using virtual reality devices to truly go back in time using tools of the future.

The Grande Arche is the iconic building of the business district La Défense in the Paris region. The two sides of the Arche are used as National Housing government offices and the roof section is targeted for exhibitions. The building was completed in 1989. 25 years later, the government entrusted to the Eiffage Group associated with the Valode & Pistre agency the renovation of workspaces in the south side and the roof section. The handover is scheduled for 2017. Even if Contractors have implemented a BIM process in design and construction phases, the client expressed the will to take advantage of the BIM D&B to enable O&M continuing the BIM methodology. This class will take the attendees through the journey of Grande Arche BIM implementation. You will receive an overview of the benefitsand lessons learned from the point of view of an owner and his BIM advisor. You will also learn about requirements to obtain a BIM model O&M-compliant and some workflows to connect it with O&M tools.
IQL will show how there are different ways of working/interacting with the built environment and explain the integrated project delivery: client, project manager, and main contractor being 1 team with the same goal approach. We'll explain how we developed a strategy, managed the design, and delivered from concept design to project handover using different digital technologies at different stages. This class will demonstrate how we've created a strategy and EIR for a project that will run for the next 8 years and which will attract future tenants. We’ll show this from a project management point of view: management of the design stakeholders, management of design, BIM for master planning, quantification, the use of BIM for visualisation/VR, and BIM as a product to attract tenants. From a construction management view, we'll demonstrate trade design coordination, supply chain management/education, BIM on-site, 4D sequencing and construction optimisation, and BIM use for tenant engagement.
The combination of Revit software and Navisworks software is by far the best Building Information Modeling (BIM) tool for model authoring and clash coordination. The workflow of using these software systems is pretty straightforward. Once the clash results are out, we can use the Switchback tool from Navisworks Manage to locate those clashes back to Revit. However, having to simultaneously highlight the exact location of those clashes in the Revit file would be challenging. In this class, we will show how we can use a Dynamo script to locate those clashes in Revit by using a sphere family that can be scheduled and highlighted in the model for quick viewing. And finally, we'll add comments in the sphere family schedule to communicate these updates back to the rest of the team.
This presentation will review how 360º photography is rapidly changing the way DPR Construction documents both existing conditions and ongoing progress on job sites. We will discuss new workflows related to progress documentation and its benefits. For example, we'll cover scheduling of documentation on a weekly and/or milestone basis to enable virtual quality assurance/quality control walks with architects, engineers, and inspectors. We'll also review workflows for capturing conversations that revolve around actual project locations to assist with radio frequency interference (RFI) creation. We will discuss use for risk mitigation, including documenting existing conditions for design planning/bidding, as well as capture of MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) rough-in before dry-wall and ceiling close up. We'll then discuss various integrations of 360º photos with Navisworks software and BIM 360 Field software. We will examine these workflows in the context of their implementation across various types of DPR projects, ranging from large tech companies and medical facilities, to small tenant improvement projects
Discover what we as a contractor had to do to make 4D accessible as a basis for further uses. By streamlining the workflow and introducing structured information requirements regarding Building Information Modeling (BIM) models and planning, 4D becomes a natural result of the process. Having a real-time, up-to-date 4D finally provides practical uses during the production phase. From being used merely for project presentations, it's now relevant to use 4D as a basis for site planning and logistics, on-site safety introductions and briefings, and as a visual aid during planning itself-providing possibilities for increased quality. We'll show our current workflow-which includes Primavera, Navisworks software, 3ds Max software-and the interfaces that we've created to streamline the process. This class will discuss the benefits of capturing existing conditions using laser scanners on a very large retail project. We will discuss the integration of point cloud data within the intelligent model in Revit software. You will learn how to utilize laser scan data across various components within the Autodesk Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Collection (Revit software, Navisworks software, ReCap software). This class will also discuss data collection of building equipment using BIM 360 Field software to connect project stakeholders located across different offices.
Self-perform detailing efforts can be a complex process. Using a lean process called a Kaizen Event, Skanska gathered a team of in-house stakeholders to develop a workflow for the firm's self-perform Revit detailing. The process starts at project award, through final lift-drawing delivery and placement of the work. Several templates and documents were developed to guide the process and will be shared with attendees. This class will demonstrate early engagement with the project team to develop detailing scope and budget, meeting with designers to understand their models and relay how you intend to use them, lift drawing planning, embed procurement strategies, lift drawing formatting and scheduling, quality assurance/quality control of lift drawings, and management of drawings with the field.
