The class will guide attendees to understand the principles and aim of the Conceptual Design Process developed for White Architects, and the benefits that Autodesk technology and services can bring.
White Architects needed to identify design intent in conceptual architecture stages, including energy efficiency. They wanted to use Autodesk applications to efficiently identify the design intent and, at the same time, to be able to re-use the digital models in later design processes.
Autodesk has worked with them to define the best processes and tools to achieve their objectives, defining a consistent framework that allows White architects to use the framework as a fluid and flexible tool for facing this early stage design and to use the digital models downstream to accomplish with more advanced phases of the project lifecycle.
Architects that want to be more efficient tackling the design early stages and BIM managers that need to make the downstream process more efficient.
Fouad is now VP at GA Studio- prior to that he was a practicing architect at White Arkitekter's Linköping office where he also served as Creative Director.He spends much of his time focusing on the areas of building technology and performance, particularly as they relate to sustainability, energy performance and analysis and facade design.These areas are intimately tied in to use of the technology toolset and the use and implementation of these tools and the relationship to design methodology is another area of active interest as well.
I'm an architect based in Rome (Italy), with 15 years of experience in BIM; I started working for Autodesk in 2005 as an Autodesk Authorized Consultant and finally I joined the Company in 2012 as a member of Autodesk Consulting, on the EMEA BIM Transformation Team. I'm experienced on BIM transformation and implementations, Revit guru and enthusiast; I put many energies on shaping an architectural oriented set of services, taking advantage of Autodesk applications with the BIM approach adding a bit of "out of the box" thinking. I had the opportunity to develop a framework to approach the Conceptual Design Process, involving a number of Autodesk tools and driving the adoption by means the definition of a set of consistent processes and best practices. During my spare time I still continue dealing with BIM (I'm an enthusiast, you know), playing basketball, driving my motorbike and strumming my ukulele.

In this class you will discover an innovative way to optimize your complex facade panel layout into a constructible and manufactureable organism. You will get wondered by the effect and result when computational design is introduced in a "Architectural Fabrication Workflow." A workflow which will guide you through the whole process from design till fabrication for dynamic facade panels, by using the AEC Industry Collection. During this session you will understand how FormIt, Dynamo Studio, Dynamo Customizer, Project Fractal and Revit are the keys to success in defining an optimized facade layout, automating the panel placement, using analysis results to drive panel dynamics and finally also link the design with fabrication technologies.
This lab session will focus on some of the newer features of FormIt 360 Pro software, as well as tips and tricks to help with your FormIt 360 Pro workflow. We'll create a building with FormIt 360 Pro software using the Microsoft Windows app. We'll also spend some time understanding the Dynamo Studio workflow within FormIt 360 Pro for Windows software, and how we can use it for quick design iterations.

What do architects and engineers want in the early design phase? They want to explore all the possibilities, not be stuck with the first option. They want to be able to change, try, and come back. They want to save time while having an overview of all solutions' alternatives. And that's exactly what Project Fractal, FormIt software, and Dynamo Studio software do for them. It's called generative design, and we'll show you some workflows to help you understand how it can be useful for your work and what you can do with these software. We'll show you how to improve your Building Information Modeling (BIM) process, and how everything can be connected to Revit software.
FormIt software connects 3 elements of the early design process that are relevant to every project: contextual information, building performance simulation, and parametric modification. Learning to connect these pieces quickly and efficiently in the architectural, 3D sketch style environment of FormIt enables quick design iteration opening new modes of design thinking. This session will illustrate a process that we're teaching architecture design students: First, how to quickly build design context (both from data acquisition sites like Flux and the creation of custom models) of buildings and topography. Second, how to develop predesign simulations to inform decisions and create a baseline standard for building performance. And finally, how to develop formal strategies by using parametric processes with Dynamo software connecting design ideas and simulation data. In closing, the session will cover predesign visualization beyond FormIt, pushing the file to fabrication (3D printing and computer numerical control) and virtual reality.
We see an increasing demand for parking structures in the Danish market. With a tight business case you need to differentiate yourself to beat your competitors. <br/><br/>At MT Højgaard, we have developed a dynamic parking structure concept to address the market regardless of design, surroundings, and building site. To make the concept even more competitive we created a design configurator to be used in the early conceptual design and all the way to construction documents and estimation. We will exemplify the use of the configurator based on a client's case.<br/><br/>This presentation/live demo will cover how MT Højgaard has automated and optimized the process of designing a parking garage, going from early concept ideas to final estimation and simulation. We will take you through the workflow and show the possibilities in software that include FormIT pro, Dynamo Studio, Project Fractal, Revit, Dynamo for Revit and iTWO.
