There's a misconception that AutoCAD Civil 3D software is not very good at using large point-cloud data sets. This class will squash these rumors and open eyes to the actual ease. This class will cover the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D with Leica's CloudWorx add-on. We'll examine the ease of navigating through the different point-cloud data sets inside the AutoCAD Civil 3D environment. We'll touch on ways to verify accuracies of previous tradition surveys, and we'll examine newer collections procedures like terrestrial LIDAR and unmanned autonomous systems (UAS) point clouds. We'll show you several examples of projects with complex existing conditions that created hurdles in design. We'll show how these hurdles can be overcome by using simple add-on tools like CloudWorx.

In this session, we'll take a look at a workflow under the Autodesk umbrella to process photos collected with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). We'll cover best practice workflows, from processing the drone data in ReCap software, taking those results into InfraWorks software for use and further processing, then finally moving them into AutoCAD Civil 3D software. The end result will be a functioning TIN surface inside AutoCAD Civil 3D, as well as a georeferenced orthomosaic.

Let's dive into the complete process of creating an .rcp file while in ReCap Pro software and importing the point cloud into InfraWorks software, and see the step-by-step process of creating both a usable InfraWorks surface but also extracting features from your point cloud using both the new point cloud terrain and point cloud modeling tools within InfraWorks. The point cloud modeling tool is like your description keys in AutoCAD Civil 3D software, but instead of 2D blocks you'll get 3D features like power poles and trees automatically inserted into your model. We'll take you step by step through the process to help save you time.

This class will demonstrate how we've created a strategy and EIR for a project that will run for the next 8 years and which will attract future tenants. We’ll show this from a project management point of view: management of the design stakeholders, management of design, BIM for master planning, quantification, the use of BIM for visualisation/VR, and BIM as a product to attract tenants. From a construction management view, we'll demonstrate trade design coordination, supply chain management/education, BIM on-site, 4D sequencing and construction optimisation, and BIM use for tenant engagement.
Ugly. That's the only way to describe the default AutoCAD Civil 3D corridors. Or, you could say a crazy Technicolor spider drew them. Either way, they don't look like roads. Most AutoCAD Civil 3D users simply switch between the various default Code Set Styles and then turn off the layers they don't want. In this class, we'll learn how to create and apply link, point, and shape styles to a corridor. This will let us shade the pavement, hatch the sidewalk, and show grass in the grading, while at the same time hiding those unsightly projection lines. Additionally, we'll take a look at how the Code Set Styles control the labels applied to corridor cross sections, and even how to use expressions to display only the information we need, while hiding what we don't want (such as the vertical grade of a curb face).
This session is about the power of the combined use of InfraWorks software, AutoCAD Civil 3D software, and Revit software. For a building site, a platform and gradings proposition is created with InfraWorks. Earthworks optimization is performed in AutoCAD Civil 3D from InfraWorks data. The result is some more complex gradings that need a retaining wall. The workflow will demonstrate how we can create this wall in Revit then calculate it with Robot Structural Analysis Professional software, and how we can generate the reinforcement in Revit. The final modeling of this building site will be integrated in the real context in InfraWorks.
