Airport design necessitates collaboration between numerous teams with a wide range of skill sets generally coming from various locations. This requires well-established strategies and methodical use of tools and technologies for a successful delivery of a large-scale project. This session will present strategies for utilizing cloud collaboration tools such as Collaboration for Revit, BIM 360 Team and Fusion Team (formerly A360 Team), BIM 360 Glue software, and BIM 360 Docs software in order to help teams communicate and collaborate effectively in delivering a complex project. We will showcase San Francisco's $2.4 billion International Airport project as an example of utilizing these strategies to enable effective collaboration between more than 200 architects, engineers, and builders from Woods Bagot, HKS Architects, Gensler, and numerous core trades and consultants on this design-build project. This session will present Building Information Modeling (BIM) strategies for cloud collaboration and data management on airport projects.

Pardis Mirmalek is an architect and programmer who's work focuses on the overlap of Design, Data and Technology. She has worked on diverse range of projects in NY, SF and Dubai. She received her master of Architecture from Princeton University and is currently working as the BIM manager for Woodsbagot-HKS Joint Venture Partners for San Francisco International Airport Project. Her passionate is utilizing technology for design rationalization and workflow optimization.

He currently manages the Group Design Technology Team at Woods Bagot, working with amazing people and complex projects across the global organisation; partnering with teams to solve challenging problems with design and technology. -- Fergus's interest in architecture ties to a continuing interest in design, art, science, history, computing, gadgets and making things.
Lana Kotova is currently BIM Manager at San Francisco Public Works, developing BIM Standards, providing Revit training to employees, managing and applying the latest building technologies to the studio projects. Some of her projects experience as BIM Manager include Terminal 1 of San Francisco International Airport, Genentech office Building in South San Francisco Campus, variety of residential buildings in San Francisco and Bay Area. Lana holds Master Degree in Architecture from Belarusian National Technical University.
Sam has over 8 years of experience managing BIM in large scale projects in New York and San Francisco. He is currently theBIM Manager at Gensler San Francisco, managing and applying the latest building technologies, BIM and management techniques to create cost effective outcomes across multiple phases of the projects. Some of his project experience as the BIM Manager include San Francisco International Airport, New York MTA East Side Access, New York World Financial Center Entry Pavilion. Sam holds a Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Construction Management from Columbia University.
When a progressive health-care client challenged an integrated project delivery team to look for opportunities to enhance collaboration and meet stringent deadlines on a new hospital project in California, the team started investigating several options to enhance coordination among the different teams' model files. After reviewing the available alternatives, and after careful consideration, the team finally selected Collaboration for Revit cloud service. Collaboration for Revit exceeded the expectations of the team members who were not only co-located at a trailer, but were also dispersed in several offices-including overseas. The team was able to work efficiently without restrictions on firewalls, which also enabled for unique workflows between the design and construction teams. In this class, we'll go over this success story while reviewing the key features of Collaboration for Revit, the selection process, setup, tips/tricks, and known limitations. Additionally, we'll look at how BIM 360 software and Collaboration for Revit were used to enhance change management.
Collaboration is the key to project success. Waste and inefficiency is expected in the transition of information from design team to trade partners. In this class, we'll share our experience of moving the fabrication drawings left into the design phase using a unified workflow on a traditional design-build project. With this workflow, we minimize the waste in transition and create a more efficient and leaner process. We'll identify the advantages of a unified workflow in the design phase and how it benefits the project team and the owner. We'll also review the process and software used to achieve this collaboration-we used Collaboration for Revit cloud service and BIM 360 Team software as the collaboration platform for the project, in conjunction with BIM 360 Glue software for coordination and design review during the construction document phase. We'll share our feedback and lessons learned, along with any tips and work-arounds to help with the use of Collaboration for Revit and BIM 360 Team and Fusion Team (formerly A360 Team) for interdisciplinary collaboration.
In this hands-on lab, we'll walk you through a concrete project workflow using GRAITEC Reinforced Concrete BIM Designers for Revit and a connected structural BIM workflow to take advantage of automation offered by BIM. You'll use Reinforced Concrete BIM Designers for Revit to automatically generate code-checked, 3D rebar cages for columns, beams, and footings of your Revit project, applying the ACI codes. You'll explore the achieved results and how you can manipulate them to a variety of situations to suit your specific or regional needs. You'll use Reinforced Concrete BIM Designers to generate engineering-approved design reports, automatically produce and fine-tune detailed drawing views, and complete bar schedules-all from Revit software. Finally, you'll create sheets and finish off the detail using some tools from the GRAITEC PowerPack for Revit, and you'll publish the documentation in BIM 360 Docs software to manage revision control.

In this interactive lab, we'll learn how to navigate BIM 360 software and become Collaboration for Revit experts. We'll learn how to create collaborative projects, how to invite project contributors, and how to navigate the model in the cloud. Once we create the model, we'll learn how to publish the model for Live Reviews. We'll also review the cloud and mobile capabilities that BIM 360 Team software provides for expanded engagement from all users. We'll also review unique Collaboration for Revit features such as the Communicator, and we'll practice communicating with the project team within Revit software. In addition, we'll review how to effectively manage project contributors versus team members. Finally, we'll review how to troubleshoot with cloud Revit files by reviewing Journal Files. At the end of the class, you will be the new Collaboration for Revit and BIM 360 expert. You will be able to host Revit models to the cloud for projects, communicate with the project team effectively, and invite the team to your projects.

Architect? Government? Representatives from ConstructionProgress.org and Construction Open Standards Alliance (COSA.build) will kick off this roundtable discussion with a brief overview of the current Building Information Modeling (BIM) and construction data standards available today (in the United States and abroad). After defining the available data standards, the group will debate the relative adoption rates of these standards in the real world. The intended outcome is not to solve the technology barrier. Instead, it is to overcome the people and process barriers to digital collaboration. This roundtable debate will produce key opportunities to impact digital-standards adoption at the individual or company level.
