In August 2015, Arkansas Children's, Inc., announced plans to build a freestanding children's hospital in Springdale, Arkansas, to advance pediatric health care in the region and provide care close to home for the more than 200,000 children. The new building-Arkansas Children's Northwest-will include 235,000 square feet of inpatient beds, emergency care, diagnostic services, and clinical space. The hospital's construction and facilities team put together a detailed set of data specifications to streamline the handover of the building and jumpstart maintenance and operations. The goal was to have all equipment data populated in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) by substantial completion in the fall of 2017. This will let critical maintenance processes be in place prior to completion. To realize that vision, a number of issues had to be addressed to successfully hand over data before the end of the project. This presentation will walk through planning, design, construction, and the beginning of operations.

The proposed object-oriented architecture of transmission project lifecycle management, acts as a counterpoint to commissioned IoT technologies.
This course will present a novel framework and development works for enhancing building asset management, particularly operations and maintenance (O&M), by visually intuitive integration among Building Information Modeling (BIM), asset management (AM), and various electronics systems. A newly developed BIM-AM system provides an intuitive way to access heterogeneous O&M information of assets such as photos, attributes, equipment relationships, manuals, drawings, maintenance records, live views of closed circuit television (CCTV) systems, real-time sensing data from building management systems (BMS) and wireless ad-hoc sensors, as well as location information from a real-time location system (RTLS) in an integrated mobile platform. All of this information is accessible simply by asset repository, the maneuvering throughout a BIM model, or even a handheld radio frequency identification (RFID) scanning tool. The results have successfully demonstrated the use of BIM in O&M workflow, responsive incident handling, and enhancing building sustainability.

The Virtual Record Environment (VRE) is an as-built project deliverable intended to connect macro to micro levels of information. The VRE provides campus context, access to building information in the 3D model with connected 2D sheets, and quick access to any asset within. Highlighting the connected workflows possible for a large health care organization, the VRE uses the BIM 360 environment. With the owner's request in mind, the VRE maintains the integrity of design and construction's digital activities within BIM 360 while also affording the compatibility between design platforms required throughout the project's lifecycle. The VRE workflow highlights the migration of building information (Revit software) across all disciplines, and highlights the importance of identifying assets of importance that should be integrated into the model environment. The VRE workflow includes Revit software, InfraWorks software for site mapping, BIM 360 Docs software for as-built model and sheet context, and BIM 360 Ops software for asset identification and data basing.

BAM has developed a technical delivery solution to manage and deliver data throughout the different stages of a project using Autodesk's desktop and cloud products. This process is aligned to best industry standards (BS/PAS 1192-2). COBie is BAM's way of cleverly dealing with data as a project is being delivered. Empowering BAM's supply chain to capture and populate this data in a simple, no-fuss manner has been key to our success. BAM has worked with Autodesk to develop a new computer-aided facility management system for facilities management called BIM 360 Ops (formerly Building Ops). Having this system in place as the buildings operator has let BAM use the best of BIM 360 Field software during project delivery. It is this systems integration that has helped BAM to achieve significant cost and timesavings. The principle case study carried out by BAM compares how 2 similar public-private partnership projects were procured and delivered-one with BIM technology, and the other without.
This presentation will focus on the lifecycle management of the UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital, from design through facility maintenance (FM) and operations, by using Building Information Modeling (BIM) deliverables, and using the integration among various compatible Autodesk programs, processes, and workflows. This class will be a case study of the solutions used to fabricate and construct a $110 million, 220,000-square-foot hospital in 14 months, as well as a live demonstration of the programs that support interoperability (Revit software, Navisworks software, BIM 360 Field software, BIM 360 Glue software, BIM 360 Ops software, and ARCHIBUS). Although the integration of these programs provided tremendous benefits to the construction team, facility managers, and owners through Lifecycle BIM and Quick Response (QR) Codes, there were still challenges to overcome. Attendees will gain experience through applying lessons learned, tracking accountability with complex systems and distributed software programs, and exploring how collaboration was vital to the project's success.
