The effective use of Autodesk Simulation CFD for Turbomachinery applications requires fundamental knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and the software simulation use. Proficiency in these areas will ultimately help to improve both the design process and product performance. In this class, the fundamentals of the CFD process and its impact on Turbomachinery designs will be introduced to establish the initial foundation of simulation skills. A practical exercise of a simple centrifugal pump will then be used to put these skills into actual practice. The progression of a typical CFD simulation starts from the CAD model, the meshed model, to solving and convergence, and finally results visualization. During this workflow, best practices and pitfalls of CFD in Turbomachinery modeling will be discussed. Finally, the powerful post-processing tools of Autodesk CFD will be exposed to interpret Turbomachinery results and make decisions for modifying the design.

In this class, you will learn better ways to route pipe, more-efficient ways to develop platforms and structures, tricks to equipment creation using Inventor software for simplifying, and some Catalog editing tricks. This class will explore the implementation of an efficient workflow for 3D scanning of large plants. From laser scanning at the field until a point cloud, which can be combined with a 2D layout and 3D models, our scan projects count regularly more than 100 scans. After the scans are taken, the scans are removed from noise and then divided in layers according to the flow sheet. The buildings are also on a separate layer and divided into roof, walls, and floor. These scans are then combined in Navisworks software with a 3D model of a new line generated at our company. The 3D models are made with Inventor software. A 2D layout, which we receive from the customer, is also attached. This workflow has been improved on a lot since the start, and this is what we want to teach in this class. Recently we purchased a drone to capture photos at places that are not reachable for our scanner (for example, ducting on a roof). A 3D point cloud can then be derived from those photos and combined with the laser scan point cloud This session features ReCap, Inventor Professional, and Navisworks Manage.

We will examine the various options available in Inventor software and how those options affect the creation of 3D PDF files. We will also show how to view, measure, mark up, manipulate, and collaborate using the Adobe Reader. We will explore how to customize your 3D PDF files by creating PDF template files and forms using Adobe Acrobat Pro. The iLogic component of Inventor software is a powerful tool that you can utilize to automate the design process, improving efficiency and quality of work. This hands-on lab will look at the ability of iLogic to automate the design process, making it easier for end users to create designs. In this class you will create iLogic Rules and code that will turn an Inventor software model into a “Design Master Model” to churn out many different variations of the “Design Master Model” for production / manufacturing use. We will touch on API code to generate user parameters and code structure that will automate the design by reading data from an embedded spreadsheet. At the end of this class, you will be able to apply the principles learned to generate ideas to automate designs for your company. This session features Inventor Professional.
This class covers a workflow that allows you as an Inventor Professional user to drive your Tube and Pipe assemblies with a master sketch. You will learn how to create and update robust routes, jacketed piping, piping insulation, drawings and assemblies for individual spools and Piping Layout drawings. You will learn how to use custom content from the Inventor Content Center to populate the routes you create. You will learn how to update and change your routes. You will learn how to document pipe spools in individual drawings as well as in piping layout drawings. In addition, you will learn how to nominalize hose lengths in your BOMs.<br/><br/>
We are inviting you to this participatory research session to innovate and shape the future of Inventor software—and really enhance your productivity. We will use several LUMA methods to facilitate our discussions. The class will begin with a “What’s on Your Radar” practice to help attendees discuss Inventor software problems and assign them with weights. Then attendees will generate wide-ranging ideas on those pieces with no constraints in a Creative Matrix practice given a short amount of time. We’ll pick some of the ideas combining with our own preprepared ideas for a “Buy a Feature” practice to identify the most valuable areas for the Inventor Team to focus on. The Inventor UX Team will facilitate the entire session. Attendees need only to free their minds and speak out what the ideal Inventor software could be.
