This class will help you to explore preliminary bridge design options by using Bridge Design for InfraWorks 360 software to visualize realistic civil structures in the context of the surrounding proposed site. Then Structural Bridge Design software is used to analyze the bridge in the cloud. We run a line girder analysis to verify the structural strength of the bridge girders and ensure they meet design standard requirements. Next, we take the design into Navisworks software to uncover design problems and constructability issues more effectively and plan the construction sequencing. The InfraWorks 360 model is taken into AutoCAD Civil 3D software for precise grading. Then we round-trip the model back into InfraWorks 360 for better design communication. Michelle Rasmussen has been using AutoCAD since release 9. Starting out in the Civil Engineering Unit of the U.S. Air Force, she has used Softdesk, Land Desktop, Civil 3D, and InfraWorks on infrastructure projects for more than 20 years. She has worked for both consulting engineering firms and municipalities laying out subdivisions, designing roadways, and managing infrastructure projects. Her extensive experience also includes writing training guides and instructing users how to use the Autodesk Infrastructure software product line. As a Senior Instructional Designer at ASCENT, Michelle currently writes courseware for AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Map 3D, Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite and Autodesk InfraWorks. Let's dive into the complete process of creating an .rcp file while in ReCap Pro software and importing the point cloud into InfraWorks software, and see the step-by-step process of creating both a usable InfraWorks surface but also extracting features from your point cloud using both the new point cloud terrain and point cloud modeling tools within InfraWorks. The point cloud modeling tool is like your description keys in AutoCAD Civil 3D software, but instead of 2D blocks you'll get 3D features like power poles and trees automatically inserted into your model. We'll take you step by step through the process to help save you time.
This class will present the first SNCF rail project that implemented a BIM approach. The project consists of transforming the existing Saint-Cloud Station in order to interconnect to the future metro station and fit the increase of passenger traveler flow. As part of this presentation, we'll address the following topics: BIM for rail issues and expectations; SNCF challenges and expected BIM outcomes; overview of the Saint-Cloud project; reasons for using BIM on this project and expected outcomes; approach taken in partnership with Autodesk Consulting; outlook.
This session will show you how we use InfraWorks 360 throughout the whole lifecycle of our projects (predominantly Smart Motorways) using a range of various products we have at our disposal to create a full Infrastructure visualisation model, by including everything from the white lining, to 3D traffic signs, to moving cars in a quick and efficient manner. The workflows have been developed over a number of years using various Autodesk and non-Autodesk software applications. The initial workflows show how we take drawings consisting of just 3D polylines and turn them into glorious visualisation models. We will then investigate the workflows for bringing in our completed AutoCAD Civil 3D corridors into InfraWorks 360, including schemes designed at local grid. The class will round off by investigating the programs and workflows used to add the white lining, the roadside features, landscaping, and the vehicles, using scripts to achieve this.

Wales, Alaska, is the most westerly inhabited village in North America. Having easy access to the site is not feasible if you should happen to forget what it looks like—not to mention that it’s covered in snow for 75% of the year. So let’s build a road over 10 miles of permafrost with the use of 12,000 acres of LiDAR (light detection and ranging) data. Using InfraWorks 360 software, we’ll work in 4D and adjust the road location over the permafrost. Then we’ll use InfraWorks 360 Hydrology to determine the watersheds and culvert locations, and size them for us. This session features InfraWorks 360 and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
