This class will introduce AutoCAD for Mac software and the special features it provides. In Release 2017, AutoCAD for Mac software has created an efficient, coherent, and more-Macintosh-compatible user interface. This includes an advanced toolset, toolbar, drawing tabs, and layout tabs, and a new command line and status bar. After this class, you will know how to use them and how to customize them. In addition, Datalink, Quick Select, Layer, and Visor are special features that are different from AutoCAD for Windows software. We will explain the benefits of these new features, and how they can help you to work faster. One common difficulty encountered by users of earlier versions of AutoCAD for Mac software is working on the same projects as AutoCAD for Windows software. The new server path-mapping feature can help you work seamlessly between both versions. This session features AutoCAD for Mac and AutoCAD.

When it comes to computer-aided facilities management (CAFM), there's one tool: AutoCAD. This class will show you the skills you need to use AutoCAD to calculate available area, understand which percentage is usable space, and export drawings and data for analysis and presentation. Concentrating on the basics, this class will guide you through a simple CAFM project, letting you learn at your own pace and develop your skills as you go. Shaun Bryant will show you how to set up drawings, define and measure areas, set up facilities area tables, and annotate drawings. By the end of the class, you'll be able to export the information to applications such as Microsoft Excel so that you can analyze the data in a tabular format.
This workshop will familiarize attendees with the AutoCAD mobile app's functionalities. They will learn how to complete key daily workflows on their mobile devices, enriching their toolsets and versatility as professionals. We'll present and act out 4 or 5 real-life scenarios involving several typical personas (=roles) in the AutoCAD community (architect, designer, surveyors, and so on). The scenarios will involve a problem we need to solve or a goal we need to achieve. We'll showcase, along with volunteers from the crowd, how to solve these challenges quickly and on the go using the AutoCAD mobile app.

These documents might pass a visual-based quality-control review, but a plot can hide a multitude of sins. This session will explore the hidden DNA of documents that can affect productivity, profit, and even employee morale. We'll brainstorm together on digital best practices to ensure your plotted documents (whether paper or digital) are more than just pretty drawings. We'll also dive into the tools and techniques to help identify, prevent, and remedy digital dilemmas in your company.
Tablets and smartphones are no longer futuristic concepts. These devices are ubiquitous and extremely powerful, both in our daily lives as well as in our professional workflows. But how can we use them in our CAD lives? AutoCAD mobile lets us use the copious amounts of data we include in our DWG™ files anywhere we are. Whether in the coffee shop, on the factory floor, or in the middle of a field (cell signal not withstanding), you can get to your DWG files in the cloud, make changes to the native geometry, and share your changes with others. This class will go through the basics of adding cloud access to your app, drawing new geometry, and modifying existing work, as well as pulling information like dimensions and areas from your drawings. We will also cover best practices and access for non-AutoCAD users.
AutoCAD software is a particularly extensible program, and that ability lets you alter the interface to suit your needs. This customizability isn't just altering where buttons are in the toolbars, but easily adding commands to both buttons, as well as to the menu bar. While AutoCAD for Mac software doesn't quite have all of the capabilities of the Microsoft Windows version, creating macros, adding commands to the menu, and utilizing basic LISP routines are all capabilities we can capitalize on in AutoCAD for Mac. This class will review how to use the CUI to add commands to the toolsets and menus, how to alter and add custom tool panels in the toolsets, and how to load LISP routines so they're accessible every time you load a drawing. We'll even learn how to write a few basic LISP routines to get you started.
