The Grand Paris Express (GPE) is a major automated metro infrastructure project in Paris, with a new 200-kilometer tunnel line. The maintenance site (depot) is a key structure in a limited space inserted into a dense urban environment. This situation leads to numerous challenging conflicts between the rail and building design. In this class, we will share Systra’s experience on project Building Information Modeling (BIM) implementation, and show how BIM can be used for rail infrastructure design. You will also discover how BIM can be effective for track alignment, utilities, hydrology, catenary, and telecom when interfacing with architecture, structure, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) services. BIM has been used on this project to facilitate data exchange—especially between a civil design with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and architectural design with Revit software—but also to improve 3D coordination and design review. This session features AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit.
BIM Manager, project manager and engineers working on rail infrastructure projects
As Building Information Modeling (BIM) manager for SYSTRA in France, Louis-Marie Borione is in charge of BIM technical support in SYSTRA’s corporate implementation project. He has 7 years of experience in change management, procedures and standards definitions, BIM model production, and custom developments. He gave a BIM class, “A Practical Approach for a BIM Deployment,” at Autodesk University 2014, and he had the opportunity to teach BIM to students at the prestigious French engineering school ESTP.
Vehicle Tracking software is much more than just swept path analysis. Join us in this hands-on lab to find out for yourself how Vehicle Tracking can improve your project decision making. This software enables even beginning designers to make educated decisions concerning their projects. We will look at all functions of Vehicle Tracking software and complete the following in the lab: lay out a parking lot design; ensure our design meets standards; utilize our Vehicle Tracking info for detailed grading; create a roundabout option within our development; and much, much more. After this hands-on lab, you will feel much more comfortable taking your new skills back to the office and showing the many ways to use Vehicle Tracking software. This session features Vehicle Tracking and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
You've seen lots of preliminary design with InfraWorks 360. This session will focus on presentation techniques to make your site plan look its best. You can address AutoCAD Civil 3D software project visualization in several different ways, depending on the project needs. You can achieve full photorealistic visualization by exporting data to 3ds Max software. You can also achieve a more dynamically adjustable, yet still impressive, visualization through InfraWorks software, and you can provide faster access to different project options. Navisworks software can provide a more utilitarian option, focusing on project construction analysis and presentation. This session will discuss the relative benefits of each and the steps needed to achieve the desired results. This session features AutoCAD Civil 3D and 3ds Max. AIA Approved

We'll review some tools to help diagnose and solve problems, some tips that help streamline application usage, and some tips just for you to help your users in the background. This session features AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and AutoCAD Map 3D. AIA Approved
You've built some corridors in AutoCAD Civil 3D software. You've even created some surfaces from them. But when you get to the cross sections, you just can't get the labels right without some MTEXT or EXPLODES! This class will teach you all the tricks for creating and maintaining intelligent, dynamic cross-section labels. We'll examine all of the connections between corridor code set styles, marker label styles, assemblies, and section view groups. You'll learn how to keep cross-section labels readable and live from an entire corridor all the way down to a single custom label. This session features AutoCAD Civil 3D.
California Department of Transportation implemented AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 software as its primary design software, and AutoCAD Civil 3D software instructors like me have been training their employees on their specific AutoCAD Civil 3D workflow. In this one hour, you will learn the hidden tips and tricks developed while training AutoCAD Civil 3D software to Caltrans employees. This session features AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Utilizing point clouds from several different reality-capture methods (including photogrammetry, tripod-mounted laser scanners, handheld laser scanners, ground-penetrating radar, aerial LiDAR (light detection and ranging), and 3D underground locates) we will generate 3D designs in AutoCAD Utility Design software. Linework and terrain models generated from point clouds in AutoCAD Civil 3D software will be imported into AutoCAD Utility Design software to automate 3D design and elevations by accurately referencing 3D design elements to the terrain. We will reference in several other point clouds from different reality-capture methods, and generate 3D designs based off of the geometry of these point clouds. This will include aligning proposed underground utilities to existing underground utilities based off of point cloud geometry, and adjusting alignments of underground utility routes based off of 3D alignments of other utilities. This class is a good follow up to "Capturing Reality: Incorporating Reality Capture into AutoCAD Utility Design and Use in SUE" This session features AutoCAD Utility Design, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ReCap 360.
