Advance Steel software is a powerful detailing and fabrication tool that has helped Steelway Building Systems move to the next level in terms of the complexity and scale of its projects. Beyond the basic functionality of the program, Steelway has also capitalized on the technology as a tool for collaboration and communication. Discover how the firm’s workflows involve interoperability with design software for rapid concept generation in the Building Information Modeling (BIM) environment. This enables collaboration between engineers, detailers, fabricators, and erectors. Better modeling at the early stages of the project increases quality and prevents the need for costly rework during detailing, manufacturing, and construction. The class will illustrate the key role of Advance Steel software in several large-scale successful projects. This session features Advance Steel.
Engineers, detailers, fabricators who are currently using, or are interested in using, Advance Steel.
Mike Vance is a design engineer for steel buildings. He helped bring Building Information Modeling (BIM) to Steelway Building Systems, which enables the company to design and detail high-complexity structures, driving success in the marketplace. Vance continues to play a key role in testing, customization, and workflow development for Advance Steel software.
This class will explain current methods of base plate and anchoring design in steel structures, and look at their limitations. Then it will introduce a new approach to designing and checking base plates and anchoring of any shape, loaded in any direction. It is based on a new method called component-based finite element model (CBFEM) and has been implemented into the new version of Hilti PROFIS. We'll demonstrate this new approach that lets structural engineers design base plates and anchoring more accurately and efficiently. We'll show various examples and verification studies. We'll also introduce a new workflow from Robot Structural Analysis Professional software via PROFIS into Revit software and Advanced Steel software.
IQL will show how there are different ways of working/interacting with the built environment and explain the integrated project delivery: client, project manager, and main contractor being 1 team with the same goal approach. We'll explain how we developed a strategy, managed the design, and delivered from concept design to project handover using different digital technologies at different stages. This class will demonstrate how we've created a strategy and EIR for a project that will run for the next 8 years and which will attract future tenants. We’ll show this from a project management point of view: management of the design stakeholders, management of design, BIM for master planning, quantification, the use of BIM for visualisation/VR, and BIM as a product to attract tenants. From a construction management view, we'll demonstrate trade design coordination, supply chain management/education, BIM on-site, 4D sequencing and construction optimisation, and BIM use for tenant engagement.
One of the most requested areas in Advance Steel detailing software is the ability to customize your templates to generate detail drawings. At the same time, it is one of the most complex parts of this product. In this hand-on lab, you'll learn how to customize a drawing style by creating a completely new drawing style, going step by step through all phases, from simple to more complex configuration. We'll walk through the workflow of configuring drawing styles using the Drawing Style Manager interface, with explanation of existing options and settings. We'll configure and use model objects, labels, and dimensions in specific scenarios. At the end of the class, you will know how to define your requests and how to customize your drawing styles to suit the company standards.
Join us for a fun conversation where we'll discuss what you can do today with Steel Connections for Revit software. This session will showcase core product features and partner contributions, and we'll also preview what you'll be able to do with the next release. Attendees for this session must sign a NDA. Learn how the use of Advance Steel detailing software helped our company to lower production costs. See how it helped to minimize the errors and discover clashes prior to construction, and how it also helped us to improve the checking.
Jackson Industrial Construction is based out of Concord, Michigan, and has amassed more than 70 years of agricultural, industrial, and commercial construction across its leadership team. The firm has recently expanded its investment in Autodesk software to streamline and enhance its existing workflows. Anthony Schrems, Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordinator for Jackson Industrial, will highlight how the firm uses Revit software, Advance Steel detailing software, and Navisworks software in a simplified and optimized process to drive Jackson Industrial's structural steel design and shop fabrication. You will learn the practicalities of software deployment and training and how the company overcame some challenges in developing these processes to take full advantage of its software investment. Some companies are talking the talk about their BIM adoption. Jackson Industrial is walking the walk.
Dynamo software may be the name of a famous magician, but there's a magician of a different kind with the same name called the Dynamo Extension for Advance Steel. In this hands-on lab, you will learn how to make a basic portal frame structure by modeling first in Dynamo a standalone programming environment where you the designer will create it programmatically and then preview it in real time in Advance Steel software. During this lab, we'll introduce you to the basic commands and functionality of the Dynamo Extension, including schemes to create sections, assign materials, and so on. We'll demonstrate how the model is linked and updated directly into Advance Steel by the extension. Learn from a real-world live demonstration how the implementation and creation of automated customizations to generate models from Dynamo to Advance Steel will drive efficiency, resulting in productivity gains for your business.
This class will explain how Canam Group integrated Advance Steel detailing software in order to detail steel beams in light gage stud walls in the firm's multiresidential projects. You'll learn how to create light gage stud walls and header beams with MWF software developed by StrucSoft Solutions, a Revit add-in. You will see how MWF can create and detail light gage stud walls efficiently. We'll cover how we import/export header beams from Revit software to Advance Steel software. You will learn how to detail the connections of the wall header beams, with user connections in Advance Steel, and how to add stiffeners, bent plates, and nelson studs. You will learn how to use the verification tools available in Advance Steel. We'll highlight the benefits of using these 2 compatible software systems to prepare the drawings for shop. We'll cover how to prepare the documents for fabrication, like computer numerical control (CNC), DXF for plates, bolt list, single parts, and cut list for studs. And, finally, you will learn how to produce the erection drawings using Revit.
It's time to end the disconnect between the intelligent model and the steel fabrication drawings. In this class, you will learn how to use Advance Steel detailing software to import Revit structural steel models, and then use bidirectional synchronization tools to compare and coordinate changes between the Advance Steel and Revit models, ensuring that both are always up to date. You will also learn how to add parametric connections between structural members and quickly produce fabrication and erection drawings and generate NC files.
This lab is designed to give you a feel of the ease of use of Advance Steel detailing software, the structural steel package that's getting the industry talking. You will create a structural model from scratch and then insert automated connection between structural sections. Finally, you'll learn how to generate fabrication drawings and NC files from your structural model.
