This class will explore the fundamentals of Point Layout software and how to manage 3D points in the field with a simple workflow. The class will start with an overview of the process and the basic tools and features involved. Then we will take a deep dive into operating Point Layout software. Next the class will give step-by-step instructions for using Robotic Total Station hardware to capture points in the field and bring them back to the model. Lastly, the presenter will discuss findings and lessons learned regarding implementation of Robotic Quality Control.

Nathan English

Nathan English is a construction and virtual design and construction (VDC) engineer for Turner Construction Company working in the San Francisco Bay Area. Nathan graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in architecture with a concentration on Building Information Modeling (BIM) and construction management. Nathan is the program manager for robotic quality control for Turner Laboratories Inc., an internal Innovation Group that generates and implements new ideas to the Bay Area operation of Turner Construction. Nathan gathers and applies lessons learned from countrywide Turner projects.
