Jochen Andoefer is a business consultant in the EMEA Autodesk Project Delivery organization. He joined the EMEA Business Consulting Team in 2012 after several years as technical consultant and project manager within Autodesk, Inc. He graduated in 2000 as engineer in geoinformatics and developed as technical business economist in the year 2008. Jochen has the ability to run and manage business process consulting and IT consulting in several business areas, such as infrastructure, architecture, engineering, and construction, and manufacturing. He does assessments together with customers and supports them in the implementation of new methods, tools, and processes. In 2013 he started a Digital Factory project with customer Magna Steyr AG & Co KG where he received The Innovation & Technical Excellence Award 2013 at OTC in March 2014. At Autodesk University 2014 he presented Digital Factory benefits with Factory Design Suite software.
Dynamic shifts have emerged in the digital realm of building design and physical methods of off-site fabrication. Buildings are increasingly manufactured/assembled rather than constructed/crafted. This class will present these digital procedures for modelling buildings in Revit whilst simultaneously assembling and managing your building components through Dynamo and into Inventor for fabrication. This entails navigating a hierarchy of linked/nested Revit models, families, and formulas; aligning the design BIM with detailed fabrication models in Inventor. Dynamo will be applied as a tool to automate, annotate, and design the building layout with assembled components. Orchestrate the building model, drawing sets, and work instructions in Revit alongside Dynamo to lay out building components, visualise building data, component relationships, and simultaneously assemble Revit components for building site context, component assembly in factory layout, and final modules in transportation.

This class will explore the implementation of an efficient workflow for 3D scanning of large plants. From laser scanning at the field until a point cloud, which can be combined with a 2D layout and 3D models, our scan projects count regularly more than 100 scans. These scans are then combined in Navisworks software with a 3D model of a new line generated at our company. During the construction we scan the site to check if the design corresponds with the engineering to predict mistakes. This workflow has been improved on a lot since the start, and this is what we want to teach in this class. This session features ReCap, Inventor Professional, and Navisworks Manage.
The workflow begins in Revit where a building will be prepared for export to Inventor. The prepared view will then be opened in Inventor where it will be populated with true-to-life and actual manufacturable detail. Tools such as the frame generator and sheet metal parts can be used to achieve this. The model will then be wrapped up and published back to the original Revit model via the BIM exchange. COBis parameters may also be added during this process adhering to BIM Level 2 compliancy.

Factory Design Utilities is part of the Autodesk Product Design Collection and includes tools for optimising 2D layouts, integrating 2D layout data with 3D models and facility components and creating 3D layout models with bidirectional 2D/3D associativity.

This class will demonstrate how we've created a strategy and EIR for a project that will run for the next 8 years and which will attract future tenants. We’ll show this from a project management point of view: management of the design stakeholders, management of design, BIM for master planning, quantification, the use of BIM for visualisation/VR, and BIM as a product to attract tenants. From a construction management view, we'll demonstrate trade design coordination, supply chain management/education, BIM on-site, 4D sequencing and construction optimisation, and BIM use for tenant engagement.
