Civil 3D and InfraWorks 360 users with development and programming expertise
Augusto Goncalves has been a member of Autodesk, Inc.’s, Autodesk Developer Network DevTech Team since 2008, and he is based in the São Paulo office. He is a specialist in several APIs, including those for Autodesk cloud APIs, AutoCAD software, Revit software, AutoCAD Plant 3D software, AutoCAD Civil 3D software, and InfraWorks 360 software. He is a graduate in civil engineering and holds a master's degree in computer engineering.
As campus managers and cities look to embrace the Internet of Things, many are finding that while they have lots of data, managing this data so it can be used in a meaningful way is proving more difficult. Our session will explore how BIM can be used as a vehicle by campus managers and cities to capture, store, and disseminate multiple levels of data (e.g., building, social, environmental, government, economic) as well as generate additional benefits. We will look at how a 3D model can be created in Revit / InfraWorks and populated with data from many sources (e.g., sensors, real-time traffic information, social forums etc.) which can then be accessed by managers, governments, and citizens using tablets, apps, dashboards, and software such as BIM 360 Field. We will also discuss the benefits that can be generated including better decision making, easier benchmarking, improved performance, greater connectivity, and enhanced community engagement.
This class will cover data-gathering methods related to utility design. Typical data gathering may include topo survey, photos, and site visits. The future of making things includes using all the available methods to gather previously unreachable data and importing it into design. This is done using current methods, i.e., survey, incorporating 3D models from photogrammetry, LiDAR (light detection and ranging), GPR (ground penetrating radar), and electromagnetic locating. By using some or all of these technologies and harnessing them through Autodesk, Inc., software, we can present a view both above and below the ground, enabling designers to see things in a whole new way. This class will introduce basic capture concepts for LiDAR, GPR, photogrammetry, and electromagnetic locating to create a 3D model using ReCap software. We can import this ReCap software model into InfraWorks software to be incorporated into design. We will briefly go over using Autodesk 360 cloud-computing platform and Memento software as well.
Come to this session to learn about workflow between Autodesk applications regarding how to generate an infrastructure Building Information Modeling (BIM) model. We will look at InfraWorks software as a conceptual tool, at AutoCAD Civil 3D software for project development, at Revit software to generate BIM elements, and at all the information aggregated in Navisworks software.
InfraWorks software ships with a basic selection of 3D assets for populating your models. In this class we will learn effective ways of preparing your own 3D models using applications such as 3ds Max software and Trimble’s SketchUp modeling program. From here we will dive into InfraWorks software and learn how to import your custom assets, arrange them into libraries, and export them for use by other user. We will also demonstrate some effective techniques for using roadways and 3D models to create custom road and rail corridors in InfraWorks software.
This class will present attendees with a solid understanding from several customer experiences with Field Asset Management software and include a discussion on best practices. In collaboration with a number of customers in the utilities (electric, water, communications, and gas), wewe will discuss field asset issues and solutions for utilities including field inspections and data collection; image and content capture for ReCap 360 software models directly from the field; and integration and synchronization with enterprise databases, including geographic information system (GIS). For the panel we will have at least 2 customers attending and 1 or more available remotely by webcam to discuss important issues in 3 broad categories: training and human factors for field workers; best practices for InfraWorks 360 Field Asset software; and IT requirements, including integration standards and security.
Join in on this roundtable discussion where you will get a detailed look into the implementation of Infraworks 360 on three entirely unique transportation projects at various stages of the design process. The first project is a full-blown multi-million dollar roadway, bridge, & drainage project through an active rock quarry that chose to utilize Infraworks 360 at the advanced design stage of the project in order to enhance the public outreach process. The second project will provide a peak into an LRT & BRT 14-mile corridor alternatives analysis where various segments of the corridor were brought to life in Infraworks 360 in order to incite agreement amongst various jurisdictions & stakeholders. Lastly, you will get to see how Infraworks 360 was used to develop 3 concepts for a parking lot and trailhead relocation at popular local hiking destination. These 3 unique real world examples will give you great look into how Infraworks 360 can be utilized in the world of transportation.

We’ll discuss working across various regions, with differing standards and needs. Learn about how AutoCAD Civil 3D software, InfraWorks 360 software, and Project Kameleon preview help users develop, customize, manage, and consume Building Information Modeling (BIM) content.
In this session we will have a look at how to create localized design rules for the design roads created with the roadway Design Module for InfraWorks 360 software. We will also look at how to localize the rules used for inspecting a drainage pipe network. And finally we will have an introduction in Project Kameleon preview, which enables you to create localized content for manholes and inlets for use with the drainage design module for InfraWorks 360 software and AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
This class will help you to explore preliminary bridge design options by using Bridge Design for InfraWorks 360 to visualize realistic civil structures in the context of the surrounding proposed site. Then Structural Bridge Design software is used to analyze the bridge in the cloud. We run a line girder analysis to verify the structural strength of the bridge girders and ensure they meet design standard requirements. Next we take the design into Navisworks software to uncover design problems and constructability issues more effectively and plan the construction sequencing. The InfraWorks software model is taken into AutoCAD Civil 3D software for precise grading. Then we round trip the model back into InfraWorks for better design communication.
The Infrastructure Design Suite 2016 software provides connected Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows between AutoCAD Civil 3D software and InfraWorks 360 software. BIM workflows help accelerate civil design and minimize revisions between the preliminary and final design. InfraWorks software provides preliminary design tools that help you design in context, such as model builder and corridor optimization help to set up your project quickly. This class will show you how to use tools like Model Builder to develop preliminary design in context. Utilizing the connected workflows, we will open the InfraWorks software model directly in AutoCAD Civil 3D software for more detailed design. We will discuss how to create the AutoCAD Civil 3D models with specific codes so that data imports back to InfraWorks software for visualization.
This course illustrates key new features and tools with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016 software, InfraWorks 360 software, and Vehicle Tracking software. We will put on display data collaboration between software for Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows. Beginning with a preliminary design, in this class we will create, analyze, and edit design features such as roads, roundabouts, and bridges while collaborating with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016 software. At the end of our lecture we will share our final design models to the cloud to be accessed by Autodesk 360 cloud-computing platform and InfraWorks 360 software web viewer. In addition, we will also animate our final design into a video presentation with 3ds Max Design software.
