Explore what use cases virtualization is suited for, which platforms and technology you should evaluate
What a successful deployment needs to take into consideration
Learn about the unique challenges you should be aware of as you evaluate and embrace this technology.
Virtualization offers a smarter way for Autodesk customers to achieve improved manageability, centralization and security for their applications and the technology has now reached mainstream maturity. As an example, the open lab sessions at Autodesk University are for the first time are being run as virtual sessions on Dell hardware rather than running on bare metal. Explore what use cases virtualization is suited for, which platforms and technology you should evaluate, and what a successful deployment needs to take into consideration. Most importantly, learn about the unique challenges you should be aware of as you evaluate and embrace this technology. The time to virtualize is now, come to this session to get started!
IT Managers and professionals who are looking at whether virtualization is right for their organization
Knowing how to write AutoCAD software add-ins enables us to create new AutoCAD software commands that automate routine tasks, perform complex calculations, or integrate multiple systems to help us be more productive, more precise, and more effective. The use of Microsoft's free community edition of Visual Studio, together with the information presented in this class, will help anyone begin creating AutoCAD software add-ins with C# programming language immediately. This session features AutoCAD. AIA Approved
In this hands-on lab, users will learn advanced customization for new and improved Drawing Styles, suiting specific requirements for detail drawings. We will cover improved beam symbol object presentation; beam alignment information in object label and continuous leader lines; improved leader line creation for labels at 45 degrees on plan/elevation views; enhanced manual dimensions on nonstandard points; manual radial dimension preferred snap points; manual adjustment of grid extension lines to avoid overlapping balloons; symbol presentation for node drawing border clipping lines; the new engineering category added in the Drawing Styles palette; new behavior for non-stand-alone defaults set the defaults in Management Tools; added simplified script contents in the Drawing Process Manager; and particular font symbol characters in the labels created. This class will include a walk-through of the workflow involved in using the new detailing styles, with explanations of options and settings, covering specific scenarios. This session features Advance Steel and AutoCAD.
When it comes to CAD, "plotting" refers to everything around printing and page setup, while "publishing" refers to electronic output. These techniques are intertwined in AutoCAD software. The goal of both is to clearly communicate design intent to the contractors, architects, and engineers involved in the project. Watch this course to learn how to plot and publish your own drawings effectively, using the appropriate tools and settings within AutoCAD 2016 software. We will cover scaling views, customizing page setups for layouts, and assigning plot styles to change the appearance of your drawings when they go to plot or publish. You will learn how to adjust individual settings in the Plot and Publish dialogs so you end up with smart, readable printouts, DWFs, and PDFs. This session features AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, and AutoCAD for Mac. AIA Approved
So, you have hundreds, and maybe thousands, of standard AutoCAD software drawings that represent your electrical designs, and you’re uncertain about moving to AutoCAD Electrical software because you think you’ll have to redraw all your electrical designs. Well, guess what? You don’t have to. AutoCAD Electrical software ships with conversion tools that enable you to convert the standard AutoCAD entities into smart AutoCAD Electrical content. This class will show you how to use enough of the conversion tools to get you on the right circuit to energize those individual drawings into a project that recognizes all of the drawings that represent your product. This session features AutoCAD Electrical and AutoCAD.
This class will focus on assisting CAD beginners in the use of all aspects of the Publishing Tool in AutoCAD software to plot multiple drawings in both digital and hard-copy paper formats. Attendees will learn how to publish an entire sheet set from the Sheet Set Manager, and also by using individual drawing sheet page setups. We will develop, save, and edit a listing of drawings using the Drawing Set Descriptions (DSD) file. Using this AutoCAD “Easy Button” provides an efficient and streamlined alternative to plotting drawings sheets individually. This session features AutoCAD. AIA Approved
Managing printing, plotting, and publishing in a multiproject and multidiscipline environment can be a daunting challenge to a CAD manager. You may go to a lot of trouble at the beginning of a project to make sure your page setups are perfect, but your users change things (yes, even if they are not supposed to). Wouldn’t it be great to ensure your setups are always correct every time someone opens a project file? In this class, you will learn an innovative method for doing just that. All you need is a little AutoLISP knowledge (available in the class), some good naming standards, and a little work up front. Newly armed with these techniques, you will no longer have to watch your users click incessantly on plot dialog controls as you make your way through your department. This session features AutoCAD. As mobile technology comes of age on the construction site, the use of iPads and BIM 360 Docs software can now replace the paper plans of the past. The transition to this new environment can be smooth and seamless, or it can be hindered by multiple false starts. This class will provide a live demonstration of the complete process of implementing a BIM 360 Docs project for a sample fire-protection construction project. The lessons taught in this class will have obvious application beyond the fire protection trade, but limiting the live demonstrations to a specific trade provides clarity and enables the presentation to pay some attention to the often-overlooked fire sprinkler industry. We expect the live-demonstration approach of this presentation to provide a great opportunity to understand the capabilities and value of BIM 360 Docs software to anyone involved in the process, including owner/managers, IT personnel, designers, and installers. This session features BIM 360 Docs, AutoCAD, and Revit. AIA Approved
You can extend AutoCAD software in a number of ways, but many users are unsure of where or how to get started. In this lab you will create custom desktop icons, modify the ribbon and Quick Access toolbar, create and modify command aliases that you can use to start commands, and define tools and tool palettes to reduce repetitive drawing tasks. This lab will give you a solid foundation in some of the available customization features that AutoCAD software offers to become more productive when you return to your office. This session features AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT. AIA Approved
We have been dimensioning the same way in AutoCAD software for what seems like 100 years. Now you can finally reduce steps and accelerate your dimensioning with AutoCAD software’s new and improved dimensioning tools. Instead of using different commands to create different types of dimensions, you will learn how the multipurpose DIM command anticipates the type of dimensions you want to create, eliminating steps and making you more productive than ever before. Discover how to create associative centerlines and centermarks that automatically adjust as you make changes to your drawings. You will also learn how to automatically place dimensions on the proper layer. As Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., said, “A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” This session features AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT. AIA Approved
AutoCAD DWG™ files are widely used in many industries today, and Forge Platform provides REST APIs to unlock the data inside them, or to create new ones. This class will show you how to securely connect Forge Platform to various data-storage services where your DWG files reside. We will demonstrate how to access a database while processing a DWG file, a critical piece for many customers who have embed database keys in their DWG files. This session features Forge and AutoCAD.
