Jerry Milana is a senior consultant for Autodesk Consulting, specializing in enterprise licensing and installation. Jerry has held positions at Autodesk in product support, Autodesk Consulting, and product management, as well as operating as an independent consultant offering enterprise software asset management services. This is Jerry’s 16th Autodesk University as a speaker. Prior to joining Autodesk, Jerry worked for an AutoCAD software dealer, where he was in charge of AutoCAD sales, services, support, and system integration services. Jerry served as president of an AutoCAD Users Group and participated on CAD advisory councils for local colleges. Jerry has accepted numerous invitations to lecture on network licensing and software distribution topics.
Fred Babin (known as “Tiny” among his colleagues) is the CADD services technical lead for WSP | PB. Fred’s responsibilities include implementation of new technology and software, training, delivery of software upgrades, custom development of automation services, and management of the company engineering document-management solutions. Fred has over 25 years of experience working for WSP | PB and South Carolina Department of Transportation providing support services for CADD and engineering solutions. Fred has been developing and delivering training content for enterprise users since 2005. During his career he has been responsible for on-site and web training sessions on software updates, custom automation demonstrations, new technology, and production workflow techniques. Fred is a multiyear co-speaker at Autodesk University events.
As a group, we'll share ideas, workflows, and techniques to help make for a smoother and less painful transition from AutoCAD software to Revit software so that others may benefit from our successes and failures. You may have heard that the only way to switch to using Revit is to just take the plunge. Well, maybe there are options to this "sink or swim" approach. Can you afford to retrain your entire staff? This presentation will cover the transformation of the business model of imos AG. imos AG started as a CAD/CAM software developer specialising in the furniture and woodworking industries. Today their approach is to cover the whole value chain from point of sale through to production, where web based technology is used to integrate the consumer into the information management. After introducing the specific requirements of the furniture market and the software solutions that imos AG has developed, the presentation will concentrate on the usage of Autodesk technology. The first products imos AG developed were on AutoCAD or AutoCAD OEM. Then imos AG developed their own web based technology. Today Forge is used inside a web based product configuration software. The plan is to integrate Forge into more products. The final part of the presentation will cover two customer examples where Forge technology is used to enable the information flow between consumer experience and production control.

This intermediate-to-advanced hands-on lab offers AutoCAD 3D software veterans a chance to explore the 2D model documentation of 3D models from AutoCAD 2018 software. After creating base views and projected views from 3D solid or surface models, we'll explore sectional views. Using 3D models, we'll create full, half, offset, and aligned sectional drawing views. We'll also create circular and rectangular detail views. We will apply editing techniques of the 3D models to then update the derived drawing views. We will also explore Undocumented Auxiliary View features from 3D models. Exporting the 2D sectional drawing views into model space using the EXPORTLAYOUT command will give us true size and shape geometry to edit and annotate as needed. So, what are all the steps that we can take to maximize our model's potential? Let's discuss all the ways to increase productivity through effective Building Information Modeling (BIM) management.
This class will go over all aspects of an integrated project delivery (IPD) / Building Information Modeling (BIM) project for health care or science projects. We'll review different methods of project delivery and effective implementation plans. During the class, we'll cover fundamentals of laser scanning for IPD/BIM projects and we'll show examples. We'll review and discuss owner agreements and lean practices that are used on the IPD projects. In regards to legal aspects, we'll discuss some information for different project scenarios.
Last year we discussed the feature changes and improvements to the tools and ancillary programs that Autodesk has included for years, but which have remained basically the same. This year we'll investigate the group's findings and add our own suggestions. The tools and features we'll discuss will include the Reference Manager, the Sheet Set Manager, the Standards Manager, eTransmit, and Fields. Additionally, we'll expand our topics to include anything that can make the CAD manager's job more efficient, whether it currently exists or not. Attendees will be expected to participate actively, as a member of the AutoCAD Product Team will be in attendance-so this is an opportunity to get the CAD manager's voice heard.
