This class will cover the setup and deployment of the Revit Server application across 10 locations that are currently being used in production internally for multioffice, multicontinent collaboration. We will cover everything from planning to hardware selection to training as we complete our first year utilizing this technology.
Matt is responsible for Thornton Tomasetti's in-house AutoCAD and Revit development, support and training. He also has been utilized as a technology liaison to properly develop BIM deployment plans for projects that require additional planning.
The Dynamo open-source, visual-programming environment extends the parametric functionality of Revit software and Vasari software, as well as functioning as a stand-alone application. It is accessible to both programmers and non-programmers, and it has the ability to graphically script behavior, define custom function, and insert traditional text-based code. The Dynamo extension is developing at a rate that is much faster than most tools in architecture, engineering, and construction; this class will provide insight from the Development Team into recent additions and new functionality on the horizon.
The new Atlanta Falcons stadium is a large, complex project that strives to push sustainability forward in the realm of sports design and construction. The Design Team—led by 360 Architecture, with structural engineer BuroHappold Engineering also responsible for sustainability strategy and exterior lighting design—wanted to include Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) as a part of the decision-making process for the new stadium. Core Sustainability Team members identified the Revit software Tally application as a tool that would provide effective and quick LCA feedback during design. With the project making extensive use of Revit software for effective design coordination, members integrated Tally into the project workflow. This lecture will share lessons learned about the benefits and challenges of using Tally on large-scale projects, and we'll cover the most effective way to use Revit software to generate LCAs in order to reduce the project's environmental impact and raise its public profile with regard to sustainability.

Lifecycle Assessments (LCA) are gaining relevance as a way to minimize a building's environmental impact. This seminar will demonstrate how we can use Revit software to perform LCA on architectural projects at any stage of the design process using Tally software, a new add-in released in 2014. The session will acquaint the audience with LCA through a comprehensive review of key concepts and their relation to building materials. Instructors will give hands-on demonstrations of Tally in a Revit environment, conducting assessments ranging in scale from discreet studies appropriate for addressing early design phase considerations to design option comparisons and whole-building assessments. We will tie these assessments back to core LCA concepts, highlighting the magnitude of the impacts found through assessments as compared to the modeled operational impacts of the demonstration projects.
