This course details some commonly used workflows that will help the typical AutoCAD Civil 3D software user adopt InfraWorks 360 software for daily uses. You will impress your project managers, partners, and clients with these easy-to-implement workflows that demonstrate the power of InfraWorks 360 software combined with the dynamic AutoCAD Civil 3D software design model. InfraWorks 360 software is a great starting point for civil engineers who are looking to visualize and analyze not only detailed design, but also conceptual proposalsall in the same environment. From geographic information system (GIS) data management to Trimble's SketchUp modeling program, this course is a great introduction for CAD designers looking to expand their skill sets beyond 2D documentation.
Jeff Lyons received his diploma in mining engineering technology from the Haileybury School of Mines (Northern College), and he received his diploma in geological technology (Geophysics) from Sir Sandford Fleming College. Jeff is the founder of Landproject Inc., a third-party developer for Autodesk, Inc., products and consultant to the infrastructure industry, specifically as it relates to InfraWorks software. From 2010 to 2013, Jeff was the resource manager for land development and the business unit manager for the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Solutions Team at Cole Engineering Group in Markham, Ontario. Prior to joining Cole, Jeff was with Autodesk Canada as the AutoCAD Civil 3D software territory manager, working with the Autodesk Channel and clients to increase AutoCAD Civil 3D product adoption across Ontario. His 18 years of experience in the field includes extensive experience in land development engineering at Stantec Inc. and various surveying/engineering firms in the early 1990s.
Do you spend days or weeks determining a corridor path for your roads and highways projects? Do you spend hours refining your roadway profiles to minimize costs and satisfy sophisticated constraints? Do you spend tons of money on software to help you design your roadways? No more. This class reveals the easy-to-use and cost-saving Corridor Optimization and Profile Optimization features available with Roadway Design for InfraWorks 360 software. We will present the enhancements included in our latest release and explain how to use them to achieve the most effective results for your roads and highways design projects. We'll also teach you tricks for configuring the services to work for mining, roadways, and railway design projects.
This class will show you how to use InfraWorks software for conceptual design of rail projects and development of proposals and scenarios. You will learn how to use Revit software content in InfraWorks software to create and detail projects and create better presentations; export information to AutoCAD Civil 3D software to analyze and create advanced documentation; and create an advanced model in Revit software, with terrain, infrastructures, rail lines, bridges, roads.
Are your subdivision layout exhibits flat and boring? Do you ask stakeholders to imagine key design features because your 2D plans and Photoshop software renderings do little to differentiate your design from those denied by your municipalities planning commission? Do you avoid generating 3D models of your proposed layouts because of the time involved? Add some depth to your proposals by combining AutoCAD Civil 3D software and InfraWorks software to quickly generate and present 3D subdivision layouts in the context of their surroundings. This session will focus on establishing efficient workflows for generating subdivision layouts using AutoCAD Civil 3D software, and then we will visualize those layouts in 3D using InfraWorks software. You will learn how to use the automated parcel layout tools in AutoCAD Civil 3D software, exchanging layout information between AutoCAD Civil 3D software and InfraWorks software. Then you'll learn how to build a complete 3D model of your subdivision ready for an expedited approval at your next planning commission meeting.
InfraWorks software has grown from being a 3D visualization tool used to help win bids, to a core tool used throughout a project's lifecycle. It's now a powerful software system that enables the civil designer to take a proposal in InfraWorks software and run with it to AutoCAD Civil 3D software. Gone are the days of creating preliminary drawings just to have to create the final design from a blank sheet. InfraWorks software will run the first leg of the race and then hand off the baton to AutoCAD Civil 3D software, which will complete the next leg of the race. This lab will walk attendees through the process of creating a design proposal in InfraWorks software, starting with a base map and then adding intersecting design roads. From there we will create points of vertical intersection (PVIs) for each road, add widenings, adjust curb returns for typical vehicle types, and add turn lanes in the intersection. We will then export the data out and bring it into AutoCAD Civil 3D software where we can fine-tune it and complete the rest of the project.
This extremely dynamic, feature-filled class will help you to evaluate in context, analyze, and communicate your highly detailed land development site projects using InfraWorks and Civil 3D. We will use real-world projects with InfraWorks 360 and Civil 3D models at the 30%, 60%, 90%, and 100% design stages for quality design checks and public involvement reviews. More specifically, we will bring these sites to life with buildings, ponds, ADA access, accurate parking stripes, and pavement markings. Next, we'll demonstrate how to add more depth by randomizing the vehicles and vegetation with Java script that you can tailor to your own requirements. We'll also uncover the secrets of when to use IMX, DAE, SDF, and others file formats to greatly increase your productivity and improve file management. Lastly, we'll place everything on a storyboard to produce a striking client video. This class will be packed full of information, so hold on to your site. Hope to see you there.
