We recently utilized the Panzura cloud storage system to move our data to the cloud. This class will go over how the company ended up getting to this decision and how it has benefited by going to the cloud. We will also cover the buy-in from management and the changes that need to be made in IT to switch from on-prim storage to cloud storage. Andy Knauf is the vice president of IT and principal at Mead & Hunt, where he has served for 24 years as the head of the IT Department. Andy started his career with Mead & Hunt after college, and he has overseen numerous facets of IT in his years spent serving as the company's vice president of IT. Andy oversees IT-related purchasing, and he is responsible for planning and selecting vendors and negotiating IT-related contracts. His vast responsibilities also include plans and implements additions; deletions and major modifications to the supporting infrastructure company-wide; implementation of network security; anticipation of future network needs; identification of proactive solutions to satisfy needs; supervision of the planning and management of the company's telephone system and management of company-wide upgrade efforts; and direction of the CAD managers for the company. Andy also oversees the management of corporate help-desk activities and resolves escalated issues if necessary.
Dan Dankert is a CAD/BIM/VDC Manager at Mead & Hunt with over 20 years of experience. Dan has worked as a draftsman, engineer, IT Director, and CAD/BIM Manger. He is an active member in both a Wisconsin BIM Mangers and West Coast Virtual Design and Construction Groups. Dan maintains the internal company blogs, standards, and all building department training, both basic and continuing education on software. Dan has lead companies from hand to CAD drafting and from CAD to Building Information Modeling (BIM). He has expertise in most Autodesk applications and deployment processes. He is a Revit Certified Professional and efficiency and standards evangelist.
This class will cover a Reality Computing Solution that uses the combination of AutoCAD Civil 3D software, Revit software, and Inventor software as a bridge between realty capture and 3D printing. We will also cover the way that this technology changes how projects are communicated and built. There is a big movement happening in the construction industry for the use of these models on projects in initial planning and as a submittal requirement.
