This class covers using Revit®-based software, BIM 360™ Field, and Navisworks® for the operation, maintenance, and lifecycle of facilities. We consider the progress of the facilities management industry in implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) and review the outcomes of a project to use Revit, BIM 360 Field, and Navisworks to manage a new school in London. We also identify further opportunities to integrate BIM data into the delivery of facilities management services to owners and occupiers of facilities.
and owners or occupiers of facilities
Reid is Strategic Development Director for BAM FM Ltd, a facilities management contractor operating throughout the UK. Reid is a graduate engineer and received a master's degree in facilities management from Strathclyde Graduate School's 'Centre for Facilities Management'. In his role as project leader for 'Project Robin', Reid and his team are pioneering the use of BIM data and tools in the management, operation and maintenance of facilities. The project intends to provide demonstrable improvements in the efficiency and productivity of the services and improved transparency and cost control for the facility owners and occupiers.
This class describes DPR's implementation of integrated project delivery (IPD) to deliver breakthrough project outcomes and to make the digital assets developed for design and construction flow into the owner's systems to support whole-life facility management. Our clients seek reliable and predictable project outcomes. After handover, their O&M teams seek to reduce the total cost of ownership through building performance and by extending the service life of systems. These goals require us to rethink roles and relationships in terms of measurement and validation, knowledge transfer, and managing facility changes. Integrating design, commission, and test information with integrated workplace and building automation systems helps clients to manage buildings at a lower cost. We will share our experiences in working with clients who understand the business value of IPD based on shared models to achieve breakthrough project and building whole-life management outcomes.
