Randy Brunette has joined Autodesk as an Electrical Subject Matter Expert. Randy's duties include helping channel partners and customers through mentoring and understanding their business issues and finding solutions that solve their challenges. Randy has been in the design field using Autodesk products over 28 years, with experience across multiple segments of the Manufacturing industry. He has been in an Application Engineer role for 19 years. Prior to joining Autodesk, Randy was a sole proprietor of a consulting business specializing in AutoCAD Electrical, traveling in North America and Europe providing consulting services. Randy is a top rated speaker at Autodesk Universities, Technical Academies, and seminars. He has authored AutoCAD Electrical training manuals, videos, and other materials.
Janna SpicerJanna received her bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington State University, and her master's degree in Management in Science and Technology from Oregon Health Sciences University. She is now the product manager for Autodesk Product Design Suite in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Prior to that, she managed diverse engineering teams to develop new products at a leading Test and Measurement company. Recently, she was named Volunteer of the Year for FIRST Robotics in Oregon.

This class teaches you how to improve your productivity using these new tools and enhancements that have completely redefined the assembly workflow. Learn how to create relationships to save time by defining the connection type, position, and motion of components in 1 step. Finally, the class demonstrates how to create both a dynamic simulation and an animation from relationships.
In this class, we examine some of the methods to better define our models using design techniques that follow the Top-Down Design philosophy. We cover some of the most popular and useful methods of assembly modeling, including multi-body parts, layout assemblies, and adaptive assemblies and parts. These powerful models can adapt to design changes easily and save hours of part editing and manipulation. By focusing on the relationships between parts in the assemblies, we can remove the need to modify each part independently.
When asked to design some fishing lures, I found myself wishing that I knew Alias® software. However, I just didn't have the time to learn new software and dove into the project with Inventor 3D CAD software. Along the way I learned some valuable tips and tricks about working with complex lofts and surfaces. In this class, I explain the evolution of several fishing lures. I cover the entire process: concept sketching, surfacing, mold analysis, and finally, the finished solid models. We go over lofting good practices that make future edits much easier and with far fewer failures. We also review exactly what surfacing can do for you in day-to-day modeling.
In this class, I run through the pros and cons and workflows for creating simulations in all 3 of the Inventor Professional software simulation tools. I highlight which tool is best to use and when, while also explaining the differences and comparing the results.
This hands-on lab teaches how to use Inventor software to simplify workflows, data processing, and proprietary designs using the Inventor Simplification feature. Simplification, previously available from Autodesk Labs as a technology preview, is now included with Inventor 2014. The Simplification tool is leaner than Shrink Wrap, yet it produces well-derived components. Intelligent referencing can and will assist in the heavy upper loads for large assemblies. Combinations of iParts and iAssemblies are also included. The lab begins with a short lecture discussing preparation for Simplification, then transitions into workflow layout methodology. We end with Inventor modeling. You will learn best practices for using components and assemblies to reduce time spent (productivity) and to increase drawing information.
