Between 2012 and 2013, Autodesk Brazil developed content for Petrobras, which is one of the most well-known oil companies in the world. In Brazil, it is responsible for a large portion of exploration and production and almost all of the refining activities, creating and impacting directly a huge ecosystem of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects; equipment manufacturers; and construction companies. In this class, we go through the process of creating a new P&ID library and the 3D specs for this specific ecosystem. We discuss best practices and share lessons we learned. A Petrobras representative will be present to describe how Plant Design Suite fits into their business.

In this class, we share some of the tricks we have learned over the years for working with AutoCAD® Plant 3D software. We cover various ways to route pipe, including rolled offsets, L2P, sloped, F as you go, elevations, and compass settings. We teach you to create equipment templates and use Viewports in Plant 3D modeling. We cover X-ray view, layer and template options, and iso messages and breaks. We explain the model symbols, such as triangles, pluses, inverted triangles, arrows, and the red line of connectivity. Finally, we cover the proper method of making line and inline asset size changes.
In this class, you learn how to edit the out-of-box specs and catalogs as well as create new ones from scratch. We also cover how to create custom components in the catalogs using the preprogrammed parametric shapes and how to employ the unlimited options available when making custom components from AutoCAD software blocks. Finally, we discuss the auxiliary catalogs in which the non-spec-driven components, such as supports, are stored and we explain how to edit them.

This class covers converting your current Bentley® AutoPLANT, Intergraph® CADWorx®, or CSV-formatted specs and catalogs into AutoCAD Plant 3D specs and catalogs. We go through the process for conversions as well as take an in-depth look into the mapping and the setup of the mapping inside of the AutoCAD Plant 3D Spec Editor.
For many within the oil and gas sector, being able to track and store asset data is paramount in calculating and verifying the maximum operating pressures (MOP) of pipeline infrastructure. This class defines how AutoCAD Plant 3D software can be used to build a facility model to house specific asset data and then use that data to calculate MOP information for a given segment of the facility piping or for the facility as a whole. This data set can then be used for regulatory audits and compliance assurance. Once a site model has been completed, it can then be used for future design changes and infrastructure management.
Having a diverse software landscape is common in a global chemical enterprise such as Bayer. There is a vital need to exchange plant data such as P&ID drawings between systems, but often a low-quality exchange has to be followed by time-consuming manual rework. The ISO 15926 initiative aims to define a global generic standard for exchanging plant data. The XMpLant schema provides a widely accepted format to adapt the current ISO 15926 standard for practical use. AutoCAD® P&ID is the first Autodesk program that supports bidirectional data exchange based on ISO 15926/XMpLant. We review the ISO15926 and the DEXPI initiative. We then provide a preview of the new AutoCAD P&ID XMpLant interface. Learn how Bayer, BASF, and others are working with Autodesk and other vendors to evolve the ISO 15926 standard. Using practical application examples from current projects within Bayer, we discuss how Bayer could streamline migration projects and internal P&ID data exchange using this technology.
In this hands-on lab, we take an in-depth look at the 10 commandments to follow when creating custom equipment and parts with AutoCAD Plant 3D software. We examine multiple scenarios for building equipment and parts and their workflows, which if followed, will enable attendees to glide through the process of building them.
