Facial setup can be a complex task, but when it is done right, it can be done quickly with flexible results. This class explores methods for setting up faces using a blend of bones and morph targets with the goal of having production-ready controls and flexibility for animators to do their jobs. When morph targets are blended with bone systems and compound targets, the result can be very organic and produce a natural system. Building targets that blend together can be time consuming, but with a few tricks it can be fast and easy to blend compound targets.

Paul Neale has been internationally known in the 3D Animation industry for almost two decades. His extensive involvement as Senior Director of Research and Development and Art Director of 3D has encompassed areas in TV series, feature film, special effects and high-profile games. Paul specializes in character rigging and modeling as well as writing plug-ins and scripted tools for system, software and production needs. In addition to his industry experience, Paul has been an Ontario College Professor for fifteen years where he brings his knowledge, professionalism and passion of 3D to his students. In 2008, Paul received Autodesk Masters Award for Contributions to CG Artistry. Paul Neale has been a Presenter for multiple Siggraph Master Classes as well as a Master Class at GDC. He has represented Autodesk as a regular Guest Speaker at trade shows and special events. Paul Neale has trained numerous companies over the years including Walt Disney Studios, UBIsoft.

This presentation will take you on a journey through the design process in large railroad projects to show what we're doing and how we're pushing things further with the help of InfraWorks software and Unreal Engine. We will cover collaboration and live feed, involving the information flow and efficient collaboration between hundreds of people per project. We'll also cover concurrent engineering and model utilization to the full extent with virtual reality (VR) enabled by Unreal Engine. This is project delivery reinvented. Intended for intermediate to advanced users of AutoCAD Civil 3D software and InfraWorks software, this class is designed to show civil design professionals techniques and nuances for creating a real-time interactive environment of their site designs using Autodesk's Stingray game engine. This class will consist of a live demonstration showing how to create a "world" out of your site design that can be navigated utilizing an Xbox One controller and a virtual reality headset. Specifically, this class will discuss workflow issues the presenter encountered when constructing a one-square-mile simulation of the urban core of Austin, Texas, utilizing only LIDAR (light detection and ranging) and planimetric data.
This session will cover collaboration between architects and design visualization specialists within the Live Design network. Once a Revit software user generates an Autodesk Revit LIVE project, any design visualization specialist can jump in and take that project to another level. Using knowledge from 3ds Max software and the Stingray game engine, let’s see how we can easily add dynamic content to create an immersive presentation. Game engine technologies can really enhance the design visualization process—it’s all about real-time storytelling! This hands-on lab will give an overview of the power of each software system when they’re combined. During the lab, we will go from Revit software, to Autodesk Revit LIVE software, to Stingray game engine, then finally close the loop and send the project back into Autodesk Revit LIVE. In this lab you will learn about noise in rendered images, use a network trained to denoise sample images, and iterate and modify parameters improving the quality of the denoiser. Mixed reality (MR) combines virtual and physical realities into one space and offers an exciting new design opportunity for architects. By projecting the Building Information Modeling (BIM) model directly over the physical site in MR, architects can communicate design ideas to the team and clients in an immersive and interactive way. This session will demonstrate MR case studies, using Microsoft HoloLens, applied for different phases of architectural projects. We'll share our exploration regarding the process of precision alignment of a BIM model with the physical project site. We'll then use MR for virtual mockup and review of design options.
