Alex is a story artist at Pixar Animation Studios. He has worked on the films Ratatouille, WALL-E, Cars 21906 (unreleased). He is currently working on Pixar's untitled 2013 film. In this class, Alex will talk about his work and share his thoughts on the essentials of story development and the importance of writing a good story.

Stephen Silver was hired by Warner Brothers Television Animation as a character designer and has been working in the animation industry for the past 15 years. He designed hit shows such as Disney's <em>Kim Possible</em>, Nickelodeon's <em>Danny Phantom</em>, and many more. In this class, he will talk about how he launched his career in character designs for animated TV series and share his experiences and view of the industry. Stephen will also discuss the importance of practice, persistence, patience, passion, and concentration. After this class, you will be able to understand how drawing communicates, what steps you should take in order to succeed in the work you do, identify industry standards for artists in the entertainment industry, and discover how to find your true passion.
Design-centric curriculum (DCC) is an alternative learning pathway that was established 2 years ago at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in response to the increasing demand from the industry for engineering graduates who are able to think creatively, define problems, and work across disciplines in a multidisciplinary team. Design-thinking as a technique to develop innovative solutions to a set of problems defined by the students forms the backbone of the curriculum. This alternative curriculum consists of students working in a team on a multi-year, multidisciplinary project that is the main learning vehicle in DCC and is aimed at developing certain desired traits in our students. We will cover the types of formative and summative assessment that were developed by the DCC team to assess the achievement of our students, and we will share with the audience our philosophy, methodology, and experience in the development of the assessment method that was adopted.
Anthony Jones is one of the most sought-after artists, having done visuals for Hasbro, Inc., <em>Magic: The Gathering</em>, and <em>God of War</em>®. In college, he pursued his two greatest passions, film and video games. He became a programmer before discovering his love for concept art. He currently also teaches at the Otis College of Art and Design and at Red Engine Studios in Los Angeles, CA. In this class, Anthony Jones will break down his methods and thoughts when approaches a new design. He will discuss how important it is to have a solid foundation for your concept. He will also talk about how he has had success with past projects and what influences him to make the decisions.
