In this class, we will focus on geospatial solutions for utilities based on enterprise industry models in Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server and Autodesk AutoCAD® Map 3D software. In several steps, we will demonstrate all important aspects of building a rich GIS solution using as an example a project for a large water and wastewater group in the Czech Republic. We will cover the project from the migration of five different geospatial solutions into one Autodesk platform to actual activities in integration with external customer relations management (CRM) and maintenance systems. One of the top benefits of this solution is full or partial automation of network statement processes, starting with collecting electronic statement requests from a public site, automatically evaluating them in GIS, and responding in cooperation with CRM and internal processes. This process, as well as additional automation possibilities, will be described and demonstrated on a real example.

Jakub is a GIS implementation and software development manager in CAD Studio a.s., which is Autodesk Platinum Partner and major CAD/GIS company in the Czech Republic. He is actually responsible for group of 12 SW developers and GIS experts fully focused on GIS projects. Jakub takes part in building Autodesk Geospatial business in the country, having lectures and seminars on various conferences and making technical specifications and writing conceptual documents for new geospatial solutions. For this, Jakub uses the experience from 4 years in SW development companies and 3 years in academic where he has focused on image processing theory and applications, authored several papers and conference talks, and was giving university classes on Charles University in Prague.
This class will present the challenges that were encountered, the methods that were used to overcome the challenges, and the successes that were achieved while migrating a medium-sized municipal electric utility to AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise software. Independence Power and Light (IPL) in Independence, Missouri, underwent a full system migration with Autodesk Consulting this year. That migration included replacing many homegrown and legacy systems with modern Autodesk technology as well as integration with and interfaces to other systems vital to the utility. Autodesk Consulting performed a full system assessment and worked closely with IPL to develop a road map to successfully make these changes.
This class explores the configuration of GeoREST, which is used to add, view, and edit data—both spatial and the attributes of most spatial data types. Using Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server 2013, users will be able to digitize onscreen and save the spatial data directly to the original data files or database.

This class will show and tell how utilities can integrate Autodesk visualization tools with their smart meter systems to effectively manage smart meters in their network. In this class, you will learn about using Autodesk Infrastructure Map Server software to build targeted-focus applications. We will demonstrate some modifications to fusion templates (from out of the box) that can lead to a better user experience for end users. One case study shows how we used custom Autodesk Infrastructure Map Server API code to create a simple workflow to assign inspection planning. Another case study highlights a simple interface for customer service representatives to view power outages in the service territory.
GDF SUEZ Energy Romania specializes in providing natural gas to over 1.3 million consumers, all through an immense and intricate pipeline network covering 16,000 kilometers. In 2007, GDF Romania embarked on creating a new and more efficient network for the natural gas pipeline. Initiated from scratch and managed with the company’s internal resources and equipment, the collection of field data related to the pipeline distribution would take two years to complete and would be contained within a single, centralized database. The team made extensive use of AutoCAD Map 3D Enterprise software (formerly Topobase™) in regional offices, created a web platform on Autodesk® Infrastructure Map Server to share the information across the company (more than 600 users), and worked closely with Autodesk Consulting to create the best and safest asset management system possible.
