Description

Description

Today the lack of water is taxing much of the world and the need for environmental stewardship and our environmental concerns are rapidly escalating. This is the basis for the Sustainable Sites Initiative that is sweeping the globe, and every landscape designer should be familiar with and responsible for incorporating these principles into their designs. Using native plants is essential in a worldwide environmental commitment to reducing harmful gasses and minimizing water consumption and the release of harmful chemicals into the earth. Native plants and xeriscape plants use less water, need less care, use less fertilizer, and ultimately cost much less money to grow than many of the exotic plants that have been used excessively in past landscape designs. This class will focus not only on landscape design, but will provide instruction for responsible, sustainable landscape design.
