Peter has 26 years of experience running AutoCAD® in a multidiscipline environment, and is now focused on heavy steel construction and structural engineering. His current position is principle at Jamtgaard Structural Engineering, LLC. He is the current AUGI® vice president, is serving on the AUGI Board of Directors, and is a registered Autodesk® developer. Peter has been programming AutoCAD for 26 years with AutoLISP®, Visual LISP®, and .NET. He holds a masters degree in structural engineering and is a licensed structural and professional engineer.
Robert is the Design Technology Manager for Sparling, a specialty electrical engineering and technology consulting firm in the United States, headquartered in Seattle Washington. He provides strategic direction, technical oversight, and high-level support for Sparling’s enterprise design and production technology systems. He is instrumental in positioning Sparling as an industry and client leader in leveraging technology in virtual building and design.
Kean has been with Autodesk since 1995, working for most of that time in a variety of roles – and in a number of different countries – for the Autodesk Developer Network organization. Kean’s current role is Software Architect for the AutoCAD family of products, and he continues to write regular posts for his popular development-oriented blog, “Through the Interface” (http://blogs.autodesk.com/through-the-interface). Kean currently lives and works in Switzerland.

This class is designed to articulate the workflow of creating a topographic survey model within AutoCAD Civil 3D software by using scanner-generated point clouds (Trimble SX10) processed within InfraWorks software. Initially, we will import our point cloud into InfraWorks where it will be analyzed, processed, and filtered. We will then export data from InfraWorks and import it within AutoCAD Civil 3D for additional processing. Once in AutoCAD Civil 3D, we will process data again to create a topographic survey model. To demonstrate this workflow, we'll focus on an actual project containing a retaining wall (75 feet long x 20 feet high) in need of replacement. In this instance, our team decided to supplement a traditional (total station) topographic survey with scanner-generated point clouds to save on field time, and also to promote the safety of our survey crew.

This presentation will go over the initial planning and execution stages of a Building Information Modeling (BIM)-driven project to create a new 2-lane tunnel under Thimble Shoal Channel in Virginia. When complete, the new tunnel will carry 2 lanes of traffic southbound and the existing tunnel will carry 2 lanes of traffic northbound. The project design is quite a challenge, as it's meant to connect to an existing highway and tunnel system in such a way as not to disturb the flow of traffic during construction. Using AutoCAD Civil 3D software, Revit software, Navisworks software, and additional Autodesk software, we were able maximize our use of the model data, not just for construction documents, but also for analysis. Coordination of not just the design data, but also the various teams and interests on the project, were integral to making it successful.
This class will teach the basics of establishing distribution systems in Revit software using criteria-based equipment selection via the LayoutFAST plug-in. We'll look at how we can easily insert real-world equipment families into a Revit model, and how to establish distribution systems. We'll also cover the importance of circuit data within a model, and how we can use that data for design decisions and efficient project completion.
This class will focus on how to create precast (PC) shop drawings and fabrication models within Revit software. Fabrication will be carried out using drawings, data created, and data extracted from live-model elements. As such, a very high level of detail and efficient data management is critical to the success of a PC project. Additionally, since rework and changes to the model can be destructive to the quality and efficiency of modeling, we'll discuss project workflows that minimize these risks. We'll show the general framework of the fabrication model, including the use of Revit parts and assemblies. We'll discuss strategies for intelligent family creation of connection families that will facilitate the erection and piece drawing creation processes. We'll also discuss how data can be extracted to support the production, delivery, and erection processes. Finally, we'll demonstrate the use of third-party tools by PTAC, AGACAD, and GRAITEC that can be used to enhance model authoring.

We utilize the combined design, construction, and operation know-how of TAV Construction and TAV Airports, based on innovative tools and technologies created for the built environment industry. Based on the success of the BIM-FM integration at the Medina Airport, we are expanding the use of BIM as a means to improve the operations of their investments.
