This class will demonstrate how Building Design Suite Ultimate software is used to capitalize on Building Information Modeling (BIM) in Canada's competitive retail world. With real-life examples, this class will present the steps taken not only to transition effectively from CAD in order to improve workflow and deliverables, but also to generate new revenue streams. At the end of this class attendees will understand how a midsize, Canadian, architectural production office uses Revit software, Navisworks project review software, 3ds Max software, and ReCap software point clouds to achieve success and growth.

In 1997 Peter Turner Architects became Turner Fleischer Architects Inc. when Russell Fleischer joined Peter Turner as partner. Since the company's inception, Russell's forward-thinking capabilities and focus have guided the company's development and growth. In 2007 Russell assembled a team of seasoned minds to spearhead the Building Information Modeling (BIM) initiative at Turner Fleischer. He has successfully showcased this progressive vision through his lecture series, which addresses BIM implementation in projects and new technologies with the opportunities they represent.
This class provides guidance for creating Revit software models that you can use effectively for facilities management. We will focus primarily on the creation of simple models that you can use as the foundations for facility plans to be used for space management, asset management, and maintenance. This class will focus on the basics, such as generating proper area plans, creating areas, and placing assets. We will also explore concepts including level of accuracy; level of development; and communication of your modeling needs to service providers who are creating models for you during the design, engineering, and construction process. We'll wrap up this session by connecting our model to a Computer-Aided Facilities Management / Integrated Workplace Management System (CAFM/IWMS) Solution so we can explore our results in a more traditional facilities management environment.

In this lecture we explain how to use Revizto in life cycle of a building, thereby avoiding misunderstandings. You will learn how to turn your architectural designs from Revit, AutoCAD and other software into navigable 3D environment in few minutes, how to share it with the team through the cloud and open it on any device including iPad. This follow-up round table will provide an opportunity for Autodesk University attendees to discuss the value of Building Information Modeling (BIM) from an owner's perspective with the authors of The Ohio State University Buckeye BIM Initiative following their 'Defining a Holistic Owner-Driven BIM Project Delivery Standard' presentation. While a BIM standard that outlines a BIM-enabled project delivery process can be extremely valuable to an owner, it can become exponentially more worthwhile when that standard is able to outline the critical spatial and asset information that needs to be captured at turnover to better operate the facility throughout its lifecycle. This round table will provide an open forum to discuss which facility information can provide the greatest return on investment for owners. We'll also discuss how an owner can prescribe a methodology for project teams to collaborate through BIM-based technologies while developing a repository of relevant building data that grows throughout the design and construct phases of a project.
In this session we will explore the reasons of why workstation virtualization is now becoming more mainstream and why customers are looking at it far more than ever before. Globalization of businesses, technical readiness and security considerations have all been major drivers in the adoption and now, with new emerging technologies, it is the right time to see if and how it would fit in your organization and what it can bring to the table. The different technologies will be contrasted and compared and some hints, tips and gotchas called out to make your organization more effective wen considering implementation.
Until recently, daylighting performance modeling was a customized skill in the world of design building, requiring tedious and highly technical model setup with specialty analysis software. With new tools for Revit software, easily repeatable analysis workflows are now possible with results available in-canvas. Therefore, users can get preconfigured, industry-standard, quality information quickly and on demand using the designer's full Revit software geometry. Computationally intensive processes are moved to a fast simulation engine in the cloud to free up computer resources and offer speeds 50 to 1000 times faster than comparable tools. This class will demonstrate live a number of workflows using 2 of these new tools: the Lighting Analysis tool for Revit software helps automate simulation and results management for typical daylighting analyses like LEED 8.1; the Rendering Illuminance tool for Revit software enables flexible and general visualization of illuminance levels for any time, location, or sky condition for any Revit software 3D view.
This session will present how an enlightened building owner (The Ohio State University) has successfully partnered/collaborated with both a Building Information Modeling (BIM)-savvy architect and contractor to develop a BIM project delivery standard that enables the model to serve as a single source of truth for relevant spatial and asset information throughout the building lifecycle. This delivery standard has truly begun with the end in mind by taking advantage of the knowledge gained from the BIM for the existing buildings portion of the Buckeye BIM Initiative. We'll highlight how the .RVT portion of this deliverable will work in collaboration with Revit software's COBie Toolkit-structured data to facilitate its utilization in asset management, space tracking, geographical information system (GIS), and sustainability. Lastly, we will highlight the need to implement Technology Solutions and workflows to enable the use of the model across the university and to support interoperability with other data systems.
