The Millennium Falcon really is a heap of junk. Well, it was when Han bought it from Lando; it took a lot of work to refurbish it so that it could do the Kessel run so quickly. Using point clouds, Point Layout software, BIM 360 Field software, and BIM 360 Glue software, Han and Chewie managed to get the restoration turned around in less time than anyone had turned around a rust-bucket spaceship beforeand to a higher quality with all the documentation and testing recorded for reference whenever the hyperdrive didn't kick in. This class will echo the workflows in real life from renovation to moving and from the end of construction to handover into facilities management. This will be a tongue-in-cheek class with much of the humor of the 2012 Autodesk University class, Building the Death Star the Autodesk Way.

Lee Mullin is the construction technical specialist for Autodesk, Inc., in Northern Europe, and he is well known as an author on the Beyond Design blog and as the teacher of the popular Autodesk University 2012 class, Building the Death Star. Lee's role involves looking at the technical workflows between Autodesk's construction products like BIM 360 Field software, BIM 360 Glue software, Navisworks project review software, Point Layout software, and ReCap software. Lee was the technical support lead for the original Navisworks Team from Sheffield, working closely for a number of years with customers to resolve issues in the products and in workflows.

This course will examine some every day scenarios to build a case that BIM 360 Field and Glue can still benefit the project, even after you have lost your first set of keys.
Follow the information as it traverses the construction project lifecycle from design to build to operations. Participants will learn how to link their Building Information Modeling (BIM) from authoring tools such as AutoCAD software and Revit software to BIM 360 Glue software for design coordination, then to BIM 360 Field software for construction field execution. We will then review options for outputting information for operations and maintenance.

It will highlight the benefits and opportunities that lean implementation provides, and it will give the participants a road map showing how to start using these principles on projects. Lean in design and construction focuses primarily on project improvement by identifying and eliminating waste and enhancing value to the customer. This workshop will not only familiarize the participants with lean vocabulary, but it will also provide them with a roadmap to understand how to employ these concepts in their organizations and on their projects. We will also review a cloud-based tool that helps facilitate this production planning and last planner process.
