Building PowerTrack

The Building PowerTrack is a series of related classes geared toward intermediate and advanced Revit users. These sessions are ideal for those who want to learn about expert techniques or pick up different approaches to solving Building Information Modeling (BIM) problems.

Twelve sessions and 18 hours of lectures cover the key aspects of optimizing BIM design processes. You can attend all of the Building PowerTrack sessions, design your own curriculum, or choose from this specialized series to maximize your skills in the following areas:

Architecture and Building Design

The advantages of Building Information Modeling is the ability to integrate the work of multiple design disciplines and leverage the BIM model to gain a greater understanding of design issues, collaborate with other members of the design team, and analyze the performance of the building. The model can also be used for phasing, project scheduling, and facilities management.

The classes in this track are designed for experienced Revit users and managers who want to learn how to make the most of BIM. They emphasize new, forward-looking applications of the software rather than mainstream use.

AB114-4 Conceptual Design in Autodesk® Revit® Architecture 2010
AB118-1 Not Your Dad's CAD: Phasing and Design Options in Autodesk® Revit®
AB322-3 Integrated Architecture and Interior Design Documentation with Autodesk® Revit®
AB304-5 Green Renovations With Autodesk® Revit® Architecture

Structural Design and Engineering

Coordination between architect and engineering is critical for ensuring successful integration and collaboration between disciplines. These structural design and engineering classes focus on the core functions and features of Revit Structure and its associated products while they address issues to resolve common problems and pitfalls.

Although Revit® Structure is the focus of these two classes, the instructors will highlight supplementary tools that they use to maximize efficiency. Structural engineers will gain insight from these two must-attend sessions while architects, owners, and builders will gain valuable background information about how BIM relates to structural engineering.

MEP Design and Engineering

Building Information Modeling (BIM depends on our ability to visualize designs as well as utilize and communicate information. It is critical to develop a standard workflow and coordination between architect and engineer while ensuring a successful integration and collaboration of implementation efforts. Interdisciplinary involvement increases the complexity of the BIM. This fact ensures there will be interoperability issues and problems as well as new ideas and approaches between the disciplines.

The classes in this track help users improve processes and enhance coordination while they implement energy-efficient designs. These are must-attend sessions for architects, structural engineers, builders and owners, and everyone involved in the collaboration of BIM.

Independents

BIM is much more than just Revit Architecture, Revit Structure and Revit MEP. There is a whole new world emerging of workflows, deliverables, and plug-ins. Here you will find the classes on IPD, sustainability, and facilities management. These classes represent the future of BIM and provide a glimpse into the large picture of BIM possibilities through greater collaboration. These courses are recommended for anyone who wants to explore how to push the envelope with BIM.
