Class Audience

Programmers already familiar with the .NET Framework, the AutoCAD .NET API. Coding examples will be presented in C#

Class Description

The .NET APIs available to customize the AutoCAD user interface can easily be misunderstood. AutoCAD 2010 introduced an update to the API for ribbon access in the CUIx file. There are also namespaces that allow you to dynamically modify elements on the ribbon at runtime. In this class we will explore and compare these different interfaces using .NET projects. You can find out if these APIs are the right choice for creating the user interface for your application.

Key Learning

  • Learn to use the Customization Namespace to create user elements such as ribbon panels and toolbars in a CUIx file
  • Understand the capabilities of the ribbon Runtime API to control elements on the ribbon without saving to the CUIx file
  • Understand basic XAML syntax as related to controls used by AutoCAD
  • See the API for AutoCAD customization available in .NET
