Class Audience

Revit users who want to learn the new Mental Ray rendering

Class Description

With the exciting addition of mental ray® to Revit 2009, it's finally possible to deliver world-class renderings right within Revit. However, with great (rendering) power comes great (deadline) responsibility. It's easy and tempting to set everything to "best" and hope for the best, but that will never really get you where you want to go. Learn not only the basics of the new mental ray-based rendering, lights, exposure, and materials, but also many tips, techniques, and ideas to save time, add productivity, and make your renderings not only look great but finished on time and on budget!

Class Highlights

  • The basics of the new Revit Mental Ray rendering engine

  • A comparison and contrast between Revit's version of Mental Ray and the "full" 3ds Max® version

  • Practical examples and exercises for production of efficient renderings

  • Creating new materials, lights, and managing RPC content in Revit 2009

  • Lots of content, naming standards, and organizational ideas

The handout and lab files should be posted here on AU Online. The class was live, with me leading everyone through the handout, so the slides aren't really useful as they were just prompts of which section of the handout we were on. 12-19-2008 1:21PM
