Intel and Autodesk
Autodesk users are some of the most creative users we work with. They push the design envelope of Visual Computing (hardware and software technologies) that brings together photorealism, interactivity, HD video, and audio as well as computational modeling to enable real-time, life-like immersive computing experiences. The demand for visual computing is accelerating in parallel with the growth of mobile devices such as smart phones, tablet computers, and Ultrabooks™. In the future, Autodesk users will use these devices to interact with the world in richer ways, to enjoy realistic simulated experiences that blur the line between the physical and virtual worlds. On this website and at Autodesk University you can learn what Intel is doing to bring you the kind of visual simulations and effects previously available only to scientists and movie studios.
Intel Xeon Processor based Workstations:
Powering your design, engineering and entertainment innovations

Whether you are an animator, architect, artist, or engineer, it is your inventiveness that is the greatest competitive differentiator.
Autodesk® software together with Intel® Xeon processor based workstation and server technologies help you unleash your competitive edge by helping create digital models of your ideas so you can see, test, and improve your designs with better efficiency, collaboration, and productivity.
Why your workstation needs ECC memory
Error-correcting code memory (ECC memory) is a type of memory that can detect and correct the more common kinds of internal data corruption. ECC memory also checks to make sure that data is not corrupted in memory and prevents 99.988 percent of all soft memory errors.
- A memory error in a location being used to display pixels can change a pixel color from red to blue. An error of this type is probably not visible and is of little consequence.
- A memory error in a location not being used will offer no complications and is probably of little consequence.
- A memory error that occurs in an OS used part of memory can be devastating. It may (or may not) cause a blue screen and force you rework your lost investigations.
- An undetected soft memory error in the form of a bit flip causes a 1 to become a 0—changing a value from $14,818 to $2,111,970. The memory error was not detected and not corrected.
This one bit flip can alter a piece of data. Whether designing a bridge or reporting your P&L, it’s IMPACT CAN BE TREMENDOUS.
