Architecture, Building Engineering, and Construction

AU for You, the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Professional

Hear from Nicolas Mangon, senior director, AEC Industry Strategy and Marketing, and Sarah Hodges, senior industry marketing manager, about what’s exciting and new at AU 2012. There is so much for you to learn, see, and do at AU this year—from visiting the Autodesk® 360 Lounge to learn more about Autodesk® BIM 360, the next generation of BIM, and how it will benefit your workflow, to the classes, labs, and PowerTracks that are geared specifically for your workflow.

Architecture and Building Design

This track explores workflows across every aspect of architecture, ranging from design, analysis, visualization, and construction documentation, with an emphasis on Building Information Modeling (BIM). Autodesk® BIM 360™ cloud-based services that support architectural workflows are included in this track.

MEP Engineering Design

Learn more about the topics that are important to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineers, designers, and drafters. This track highlights workflows that help MEP engineers design better performing systems, along with energy and airflow simulation. These workflows will help you solve business and project challenges that you may encounter.

Structural Engineering Design

This track focuses on topics that are important to structural engineers and designers as well as BIM and CAD managers who want to learn more about Building Information Modeling (BIM). The track also showcases Autodesk BIM 360 cloud-based services that support the structural engineering industry.

Construction

These classes will focus on construction workflows that can help improve efficiency, predictability, and productivity in the everyday practice of construction—from preconstruction through handover—using BIM, cloud, and mobile technologies.

Simulation

Autodesk& BIM 360 cloud-based services support AEC industry workflows with a comprehensive set of simulation software tools that are easy to integrate into each phase of the building design process—from energy analysis to computational fluid dynamics to simulation mechanical.

Fabrication for Architecture, Engineering, and Construction

Intended for architects, MEP and structural engineers, and contractors, this track focuses on fabrication and prefabrication workflows that take full advantage of Autodesk® Building Design Suite, Autodesk® Fabrication software, and complementary solutions.

Autodesk BIM 360

Experience Autodesk BIM 360 firsthand with workflows that feature a broad range of cloud-based services on the Autodesk® 360 cloud-based platform. Take advantage of infinite computing power to access and share data using your mobile and tablet devices.

Utilities and Telecommunications

These classes showcase workflows, best practices, and success stories that are related to electric transmission and distribution, gas distribution, and telecommunications, including workflow optimization, enterprise integration, and enhancing the design process.

Geospatial

Learn how to take full advantage of the geospatial capabilities of suites and products across the Autodesk portfolio. Topics in this track include data access and acquisition, the convergence of CAD and GIS, 3D infrastructure modeling, and conceptual design.

Energy Optimization for Retrofits

This PowerTrack is comprised of a series of 4 lectures, each illustrating the usage of Autodesk® computer simulation software to enhance the performance of existing buildings. The lectures will walk through the process of converting existing facility documentation into a Building Information Model (BIM) and using BIM to evaluate energy efficiency measures and streamline workflows in detailed energy models.

BIM for Construction

This combination of beginner and advanced classes delivers a comprehensive overview of everything the BIM for Construction PowerTrack has to offer.

Utility Design

Learn more about the topics that are pertinent to Electric Utility customers. From hand-on labs to lectures, this PowerTrack showcases AutoCAD® Utility Design software for distribution design to lectures and panels that cover substation design.
